  1. i used 1 a little while ago on my rigging course, trust me they are the dogs bits!!!!! trying to save my pocket money to buy 1, even trying to get a paper round to get there quicker:biggrin:
  2. that was my plan, i got a big van if you need a get away driver:laugh1:
  3. cheers treebloke. antipesto- i have got a few of the bodygrips but have never actually got round to trying them but after looking at your pics i think they are defo worth a go, any little hints or tips??? (other than sticking your fingers in there, i already know that 1 after trapping both my thumbs at once and having to wait for 20min for a mate to come back so he could take it off:blushing::blushing:) pm if you prefer. cheers
  4. thanks for the support here friend. i was expecting to take a "bit of a kicking" re snares but i'm glad to see that i'm not the only person here that uses them. i was taught by a few "old boys" that made their living and fed their families etc in the war so these boys knew a thing or two about the job.
  5. not if its done correctly, i've snared hundreds of squirrels and foxes and got to be into the 1000s with rabbits and only ever caught 1 cat by accident
  6. kania's are exellent, expensive yes but its the old game of weighing the pros and cons. give killgerm a ring (cant remember number but google it and it'll be there) they are an excellent firm to deal with and will help as much as they can, they may even recommend someone close by that may be able to help you. failing that, have you thought about snaring them, cheap, simple and effective and you dont damage the meat so you can have your own back by eating the little buggers:001_smile:
  7. i agree with tractorboy, mulching blades we call them and they really are the dogs bits, once you used one the only thing you'll do with a 3 prong blade is practice throwing it at trees during your dinner break..........or is that just me wanting to be a ninja???????:blushing::blushing:
  8. credit where its due there mate, cracking job:thumbup1:
  9. i got some pics of some of the carving that i'll try and stick up here if no one minds. it was a good day out. rest of the family were busy so i took my mammy out for the day, she really enjoyed herself and loved watching the axe men (first time she's seen this type of thing and she hasn't shut up about it since) great day had by all i think. cheers to the axe boys:thumbup1:
  10. all the best mate, watch out for blisters:biggrin:
  11. i cant comment on the rope but will be watching this thread closely as its that time for me as well as for the brief mention about the treemotion, go for it bro, best i've used and even if by some chance you dont like it/ get on with it you can sell it real easy
  12. are they draw string or elastic tops?
  13. sawmonkey

    Fuel can

oil spill spout is a waste of time.....you can have my old 1 if you can find it where ever i threw it, personally i dont use the spill spouts any more cos they dont last, just put a normal spout on (with the screwy tops:001_tongue:) as for cans, i'm a husqy man but use stihl cans cos the husqy 1s have little nipples on the bottom of the oil that wear out and next thing you know there is an oil spill on the patio or all over the back of the van
  14. personally i say it comes down to personal preference and confidence, i sometimes use a second anchor, always have a strop with me as i tend to use the strop rather than set up a second anchor. as others have said, dont feel pressurised, if you are been pressurised then try explaining how you feel and if they still push you then i'd say try and get a job somewhere else because at the end of the day its you thats hanging on that rope and not them, ie- its your "cock on the block" and not theirs sorry if this is long winded
  15. i regualrly drive for 1 or 2 hours 1 way for a days work. i have travelled from carmarthen in west wales (home) to plymouth, paddington, crewe, wrexham, shrewsbury, all daily. before xmas last year i was working in and around liverpool but the company were sorting digs (which werent bad) for 4 nights a week. basically i'm the biggest mercenary going,i'll work where ever, when ever and doing what ever, if the money is right then i'm on my way.
  16. you beat me to it. couldnt hit the side of a barn if i was stood inside with normal thechnique. got a big shot and now very rarely have to have a second go............do spend 10min trying to locate the bag 100yrds down the road though:blushing:
  17. shame these lads dont call in my local, i dare say there would be a few pints waiting for them.........for been so helpful to the poor theif that fell and hurt himself, i bet it could have been a lot worse if they hadnt been there,:thumbup:
  18. be great if you could please, i've been promising for the last couple of years but never got the time or the money and i've just realised how quick the little boss is growing up so want to try and sort out before she's too old
  19. just get the mrs to order it for you, thats what i do and she always seems to get the right 1. but really provided its skin so soft it doesnt matter which 1 you get,
  20. i would if they were doing 1 closer to home. just wont tell the mrs cos there may be a few snips with the scissors and an insurance claim
  21. evening folks, anyone know of someone decent that make playhouses, preferably in south/mid wales and be even better if they are pretty cheap cos i am a poor sawmonkey. thanks in advance
  22. deet is good but stays in your liver for years and can cause problems (liver damage etc and it eats away plastic:001_huh:) avon skin so soft is the best stuff, nothing nasty in it, i've used it in guatamala and venezula and only been bitten when i've forgot to put it on
  23. chipper ticket is always handy, i usually want to see all aspects of how someone can work cos i've learnt the hard way. ie- took a guy on that was excellent on the saw but suddenly decided he wasnt going to chip cos 'he's a saw man and not some "bleeping" brash dragging "fool"
  24. thoughts with the family. can we all try and stay safe please
