  1. try a ballast fork, you can get them from bodygaurd workwear, they are used a lot on the railways, very strong and ideal for shifting wood chip. hope that helps

    wales

carmarthen but last contract i had i covered the whole of wales and the marches so travelling isnt a problem, depending on how much and what you've got there are a few other boys that used to work with me that are looking. also got several railway tickets (pts, lookout, coss, pc)

    wales

how does folks. looking for bit of work preferably west wales but used to travelling (no i'm not a pikey before you think it) so anywhere in wales would be fine. got own van, chipper, trailer, saws, climbing kit etc
  7. got a mac now, spot on machine for everything you need and more, used to have sony viao which i have now given to the kids for them to do their homework etc on (think its mainly that b*&^%y face book thing) never had a virus, computer crash etc with mac, happening all the time with sony. mac runs mac AND windows where as from what i can gather most others will only run windows. best advice is speak to some geeky 16year old computer wizz
  8. i've always got 1 on my harness or if i'm working on the ground there is 1 on my belt, same goes for anyone who works for me even if its a blood stopper in their trou pocket, no first aid kit no work, its as simple as that and they all know the rules, there is also a big first aid kit in the "site bag" (along with all the risk ass, method statements etc because working on the railway these must be kept with the gang and not in the van) also seen a few oops bumps and whooppsy daisy's that needed first aid attention and people have ended up in a right mess because they didnt have 1. hopefully it'll never happen but think about whether you would prefer your family to visit you in hospital or the grave yard???????
  9. if any one here is looking at fishing abroad give peter petzer a shout 'world wide fishing safaris'. i've been to venuzuala twice and guatemala once, both excellent trips, plenty of fish, great lodges, great boats, crews cant do enough for you etc or if you want to go to maderia try peter bristow on the katherine b, or mark v lee on the magic. there again both excellent skippers who really know their stuff. as for this country.........i've caught a few colds and possibly pnumonia
  10. how does lads and lasses, anyone had any sort of dealings with woodland stewardship or better woodland for wales (as i'm from gods country) i've been asked if i'm interested in managing a 70 acre block of douglas and larch (and some other odds and sods thrown in) but the owner wanted to know about grants etc towards costs, any dealings, pointers etc would be helpful cheers

    Ferrets

had ferrets for years, they're great little buggers. got 2 jills at the moment, neither has ever bitten me (yes, even done the ferrets down the trou.) step son not so keen since 1 of my none biters was hanging off his finger 2 weeks ago, i grab her and she let go straight away. keep them clean and give them space to play, handle them daily and you'll never have a problem. yes mine are workers
  12. will do mate. doesnt have to be in south wales, willing to travel for the right sort of course. would have thought there would be a few people interested in doing some thing like this?
  13. how does folks, work going real slack at the moment and i'm wondering if there are any reasonably short but full time courses going anywhere, got just about all the cs tickets but rather lacking in the 'theory/ paperwork' side of things. got mrs and family etc so dont/cant be away doing a 2 year full time course but was thinking 6-8 week ish. anyone know of anything? any help would be great, cheers
  14. its a nice little saw for carving with, dont even need to change to a carving bar,
  15. just got back from the arb fair just wanted to say thanks to the guys at hb, despite the scum bags ripping off their stock they still managed to get a few bits down there, promised they would get anything else you wanted that they didnt have with them and still had a smile (or was it a grimace) and time (when they could)for a quick chat and fat chewing session
  16. broad sword is better at turning the leaves to start with but tordon does better long term job
  17. cheers kimtree, it was 10 years ago i was there so couldnt remember. still loved my time in NT
  18. try the efco strimmer gloves, plenty of padding etc. Most of the boys with me wont wear anything else when strimming, chipping and most of them wear them when on the saw, especially when on thorn or when there is alot of bramble, their made of real thick leather so give good protection against thorn etc. They also last for ages. Tried all the saw gloves, dewalt anti vib, timberland anti vib and just about anything i could find, but keep going back to these.
  19. if you get a chance go to kunnanara(prob spelt wrong) its a few hours south of darwin. they used to do a 'cannoe safari' down the gorge its 56km with few bivvy sites along the way, i did it 10 years ago and it was excellent. if you fancy a few beers stop at alice springs and go to 'bojangles' always a good craic there. coober pedy is worth a look (theres only about 5 buildings above ground, everything else is underground but the doors are on top{it looks like something out of a cartoon}) most of all DONT get stuck with guide book recommendations, just do what you want to do when you want to do it. have a good trip.......you lucky git.
  20. no it hasnt, bugger, will try again later
  21. /Users/plantandtracks/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Modified/2009/27 May 2009/DSC00078.JPG dont know if this has worked supposed to be a guy holding a saw (need to add the guide bar)
  22. thank for having the balls to admit you screwed up. we all need to think a bit more at times and something like your accident brings it home glad it wasnt to serious
  23. how does mate, stretch airs are much better than the sip orange, another pair that you may want to look at is the windsor trou (w m clarke)there're a lot cheaper than even the sip and personally think there a better fit.the sip do not stretch at all, if they were same style/make as freedoms they would have been excellent. we got all 3 makes, some boys prefer sip, some the windsor, most prefer the stretch airs so gave everyone the choice but they would have to pay the difference with the stetch air, some did choose to pay extra most didnt. maybe worth offering your boss to pay the extra.
  24. how does mate. i've always been told that nesting season is end feb to start september. thats general rule but to cover your backside try and do a bit of a walk/look before hand at anytime of the year cos some birds dont follow the rules and nest before and after these dates.
