  1. Butterbur (Petasites hybridus) is a common native along watercourses. The leaves were once used to wrap butter but I'm not sure how edible it is:001_smile:
  2. No. It's that stuff you spray on windows at xmas:001_smile:
  3. Butterbur.
  4. The 'fungus' is woolly aphid. There's possibly a bit of canker there causing some stem girdling and dieback.
  5. Any anglers out there? Walk my local river every day and can't help but notice how little balsam there is this year and how much ranunculus there is. Not seen it look so good for a long time. Anyone else seen this on their rivers? All I need now is a few feet off the depth to cast a fly!
  6. Oxalic acid. Mix it, rub it on and rinse off. Will be like new.
  7. Exactly. How can it differentiate between muscle weight and fat? I didn't want to be Bolivian anyway:001_smile:
  8. Far from it:001_smile:
  9. Not a tree-related coincidence but one I found really strange. We were in France about 12 years ago and my lad, then 7, found a Belgian number plate which he kept. The following year we went back to a completely different area and I helped out on an organised guided nature walk. As we waited for people to turn up a Belgian couple arrived in their car ENF 319. Turns out they'd lost the plate off the cycle carrier the previous year.
  10. Gordon will probably be able to help. Heath Garden Professional Tree Care Gordon Malt Dip Hort (Edin); NC Arb; ISA Cert Arb; Cert Ed Heath Garden, Heath Hill, Sheriffhales, SHIFNAL, Shropshire, TF11 8RR 07932572272
  11. The Gasser 300 is a good bike but like all Gassers needs a lot of TLC with the spanners. I just wish the Japs would get back into strokers then I'd be tempted to part with the WR.
  12. That WRE's a corking bike.
  13. Don't worry. It was more a prod at Tony as he wasn't getting involved:001_smile: If it is correct then I don't need the leaflet so it can be passed on to someone else.
  14. He beat Jarvis on a technicallity at this year's Erzberg but he is good. Knighter will have to come up with more excuses this year:001_smile:

  17. One locally. Who in their right mind would attempt to drive through this!
  18. Collybia fusipes?
  19. I love my green laning but on a bike not a 4x4. Far less damage and you get to go above 4 mph:001_smile: Most of my 'laning' is done in the Peaks and Wales (far more technical and demanding) with occasional trips further afield. What I will say about the majority of 4x4 drivers is that they seem to get their kicks from getting stuck and winching each other off rock steps...some sort of weird gratification. They have done themselves no favours in the Peaks by dismantling walls to reduce rock steps, driving to the edge of severely rutted sections onto farmland (and they caused the ruts in the first place) and generally blocking the lanes up in their slow procession.
  20. I'd just carry on subbing and say nowt.
  21. Nothing wrong there except the weather. It's better than ours:001_smile:
  22. cappadocium it is:thumbup1:
  23. As before Prunus luscitanica and Acer platanoides.
  24. Could possibly be the springs inside the injector pump collapsing if it's the 2.7 engine.
  25. Many hundreds of A. glutnosa are dead and dying from Phytophora along our Midland rivers and been so for a number of years. The upside is the creation of 'large woody debris' dams.
