    I worked as a foreigner in France with no problems and once in Scotland:001_smile: Scotland was the worst for resentment. Went out for a drink one evening and was told being English was slightly better than being black:thumbdown: Neither fair to us or anyone else no matter their colour. That was one of many derogatory remarks!

    A vast number of poplars planted around 'new towns' are the hybrid TT32 a cross between P. tacamahaca and P. trichocarpa. I think these are all female.

    You can get a boiler flue but no idea if they're any good.

    Second that. Mine has two pipes recirculating the smoke back to the flames where the smoke forms little jets like mini blowlamps:thumbup:

    We 'removed' a high pressure gas main years ago of about 12" diameter. No markings, below minimum depth and way off line from the plan. Had to take full responsibility as even installation drawing is no guarantee of accuracy.

    When I did some tractor driving, many moons ago, it was drummed into us to fill the tank to the brim every night after work. Stops any condensation forming on the warm tank sides.

    Couldn't agree more, with the usual exceptions for kids etc. People tend to feel obligated to give to people they don't really want to. I stopped years ago and tend to try and make gifts myself...chainsaw carvings if I can.

    A walk in the park! No way would I ever trust that structure. Made me feel sick just watching him climb.

    I use compact and dslr. An Olympus SP800uz which gives 28-840 zoom, macro and more in one compact ish camera. Also Canon Eos 20d which will do all of the above as long as I could afford all the lenses and a big bag to put them in. Depends how seriously you want to take photography but I'd go for a bridge camera initially.

    Oh dear.....I think there may be some complacency. My son phoned me tonight. He's working away on a farm at the moment and he tells me recently planted ash trees have had some black wilted leaves before they dropped. The boss is off on safari soon and he really can't be bothered! On another farm their recently planted ash have shown similar symptoms this year. When it was suggested to the boss that they may have ash dieback his reply was; 'yes, they probably have' and left it at that. So two examples of disregard and complacency.

    Unless you're running the stove regularly I'd fit a cowl. In a brick chimney the masonry will absorb a fair bit of moisture. With a flexi flue any rain water will run straight down to the stove.

    The easiest way to hold the liner in is with a 'hanging cowl'. The liner fixes to it and it sits on the existing pot. You'll need to fit a register plate in the flue above the stove and make sure it's airtight. Then get it signed off by the building control dept of your local LPA. I think most stove manufacturers recommend a height of 4.5 metres for the flue.

    The flexible liner will need to go inside an existing chimney. If you're not burning coal then 316 grade is what you need,

    You'll need to make your own. I've used bent fencing wire but also seen a hook fashioned out of a piece of forked thorn.
