  1. It’s overrated Dan.
  2. Why would you Tom? It’s numb on 3/8. Joe has nailed the perfect combo, Stihl 150 10” bar with Stihl 57 dl chain.
  3. @Steve Bullman?
  4. Nice one Timon!
  5. Finally, someone addresses the root cause of what this shit-show is actually all about.
  6. We could be on to something here. Finally, a great reason to not top connies anymore! Removals only. YES!
  7. You’re not alone Wayne!
  8. If I get a quid for every time someone (and I include myself and the wife here) has a meltdown over a ‘fronted adverbial’ or ‘grapheme’, we won’t have to work again. See you later suckers!
  9. What will really cripple the economy is when I submit my invoice for home schooling.
  10. I meant your single line with just a hitch and a hitchclimber? Really hard to descend on just that. Found out one morning 50’ up a pop when I’d forgotten to connect my Ropewrench. I was very, very hungover. Don't tell the HSE.
  11. Wouldn’t you struggle to bale on that line if you had to Mike?
  12. Some of the heartless bastards didn’t even have any drums! RIP Sir Tom, you achieved more in a year than most of us can aspire to achieve in a lifetime. What a man, they don’t make many like him any more. Take it easy up there Captain, you have earned your rest.
  13. Paddy is getting too much stick for simply pointing out the HSE position. The reason the rest of us get so riled up about it is that it has very obviously been thought up by desk jockeys who have no comprehension of what climbing trees to make money is all about. I think we should get back on track to discussing the Gyro. I can’t really add anything because I won’t be using one, as Rich said I tried bridge swivels years ago and they seemed to twist things up more, not less. Not saying the Gyro will, like.
  14. Ah, ok. I’ll never need it then.
  15. Mick, get a longer rope and a rope bag!
  16. Have you not seen his ladder?
  17. Joe beat me to it, you can pull one end through and revert back to your original rope length. I’ve hardly ever done this, as Huck said, a big loop of rope is not something I particularly want up a tree.
  18. Tricky one today. The previous crew who pollarded this fairly knackered willow obviously didn’t fancy the big decayed lateral over a deep ditch, so they simply left it. No anchor to work off, so Danny Mac rigged it off itself into the drink, then we winched it out butt first with a pre set higher line in an adjacent tree.
  19. As long as you can still reach the ground I would say that’s fine.
  20. You said it was anonymous Mick. I voted, and the ‘almost never’ % went up, which could blow my cover if the HSE are monitoring this. I have contacted my legal people.
  21. The problem I’ve got with it Paddy is that in a lot of situations 2 ropes actually increase the risk without providing a single discernible benefit.

Don’t get me wrong, and Stere makes a valid point, that pubs (were!) full of fat bastards you used to ‘play a bit’. Plenty of evidence at arb shows of blokes in their 50’s who still think they have a 32” waist!

    I wasn’t talking about BMI.

I think most world class players count as obese on some of the charts, even the backs. Weight is irrelevant really, body fat is what counts.
