Quite agree Jonny, was out on a job the other day and got talking to a guy just up the road from me, he got his garage done about a week ago, he had heard about my troubles didnt even smash the glass this time, ohhhhh no far to un pro, they came with a glass sucker and cutter, simply cut a nice big square out of the window.......and cleaned his garage out.

  10. It's a sighn of the times IMO, To MOST people cost matters, thats why a lot get a few quotes, most but not all will go with the cheapest (providing they feel the person is up to it) with so many people out of work it will get worse before better, i have spoken to quite a few builders who want to start in "tree surgery" as they think its easy and all we do is kill trees. went to look at a small cherry the other night that the landlord (farmer) had butchered on one side cos it was over the garden, tenent loved trees and wanted to know what i thought, It does need reducing as it's going all over and it's only a small garden but as i told her if the owner had butchered it like he has he aint going to want to pay to have it done properly, then she said most round here just let the gypsies do it every year! (this is a middle class estate) Oh and guess what, most of the trees i could see from this ladies garden were fooked.......all down to cost and a lack of knowlage with Mr and Mrs ave ......
  11. Yell.com and yellow pages has worked for me...........at a price though and as for cold callers.....i have had em all in the last year, at least 2 a week, anything and everything thats one of the down sides to it. i am staying with them but cutting it down a bit as it's soooo easy to spend to much on fancy adverts.

Thanks Justin, ebay is such a good site just a pity a lot of the stuff is iffy, like my knicked chipper that turned up on there, i am extra warey now:sneaky2:
  18. What has this pathetic country come too? to think of all the thousands of lives lost in wars fighting for this country and we end up with a mad shite hole like this gets to me:mad1:.............rant over, sorry for your loss pete, all the best to you and his family and greenmech friends.
  19. The local rags, we have a booklet once a month called "on your doorstep" its all trades and works for me, parish/village newsletters, yell.com etc the best is word of mouth though. What ever you do DO NOT get involved with the many scams out there, Vardis for calanders, Schemes for schools and companys that PROMISE you a listing on what ever site or directory that you never see! stick to what you know or you can loose a lot of money on bull shite advertising.
