  1. As you say IYO as i said we all have our favs Im not keen on timberwolf but that dont make em a bad chipper, when on a limited budget you have to look at them all and get the best machine possible. can you name the useless ones then?
  2. Might be to you, if you read it all it says some are better than others.......
  3. In all fairness there aint a bad chipper on the market, some are just better than others and a lot comes down to personal preferance, people slate Greenmech but my 220 is spot on, would have a nother Greenmech any day. The best chipper for 6k? The best one you can find, best condition, lowest hours and the best maintained you can get. get one from a dealer and haggle and get it fully serviced, it's a buyers market at the moment. Does any of this make any sense? LOL thought not
  4. Love to help Steve but picking me new truck up:drool:
  5. much to high mick, im getting mine this week, i had a quote from a firm down your end for a 53 plate tranny with 46k on the clock for 6 plus vat! trannys are too over priced imo i got a 53 crew cab citroen relay 3.5t 2.8td full history and ex council owned for 4k plus vat. LDV are cheaper and have tranny gear but are 20 years out of date, just got rid of one and wouldnt have another. I reccont same price for your tranny, 4k plus vat or there abouts.
  6. I would do it, but i would also tell them its not really good for the tree and it will look crap! tell them the best solution is to fell and re plant, failing that get the harnes on!
  7. I had one of those, a good simple machine to be honest, easy to look after and being a drum chipper very efficient and you dont need lots of power. mine chipped loades and never let me down, for the right price there spot on. easy and light to tow aswell The new version is still in production in the US
  8. Biker most of me life, now got a kawasaki zx12r A1 in red and a Honda VTR 1000 for a track bike. wife has a Honda cg125.

  15. Me climbing with 4 groundies, 2 mine and 2 prison staff. all brash and timber taken away by them as it came down. hardest part of the job was keeping em working for 4 hours solid:sneaky2:
  16. Just thought i would share a few pics of yesterdays job, Mature Oak next to a busy road with 4 phone lines down two sides, plenty of room to the front though. coppers turned up to close the road for 5 mins to do the road side. The job was for the prison service, Tree had shed a small limb and had quite a bit of cambium damage at the base on the road side and as kids play on the grass underneith (tree was on prison officers quaters) the prison manager wanted it down and is going to replant with 2 Oaks. Has a few Tree huggers turn up and give us the "have the council given you permission" thing....all in all a nice steady job. 4 hours from start to finish inc clean up OH and no jokes about fat lads up trees:sneaky2:
  17. I was told this last year, i called them up and spoke to a woman who said that anything taken away from site was waste therefor needed a lience, i told her it was wood chip and tree timber and she said yes you do need one. There is a VOSA weighbridge about 5 miles from me and there always pulling people Some for weight issues but they always have tippers in ! For 50 quid a year i cannot be arsed with the hassle anyway to be honest.
  18. Thanks Steve, thats a top tool, glad it aint coming out of your own pocket aswell. thanks for all the work mate.
  19. 20" chain and bar will be about 50 quid, i wouldnt bother, to old and really all it is is the old TS350 cut off saw with a chain on, put your 100 quid to a newer piece of kit........just my opinion:001_smile:
