  1. Never tried a husky blower, i got a BG86 2 years ago and its the dogs, very smooth to use and never fails, am sure the husky/echo blowers are just as good though.

    tree ownership?

We understand what your getting at Dean, we all have our own way of dealing with things and as long as YOUR satisfied with the outcome thats all that matters, what you established is that the customer told you he owned them and thats all. As long as your comfortable doing the job then thats fine.

    tree ownership?

You dont have to tell them you dont trust them!!!!! but you must be sure who's property your doing work on!!!!! Yes it is MY responsability to take all steps to cover myself, Mr and Mrs bloggs couldnt give a monkeys about me in the long run so i take steps to protect myself. What your saying is that you take customers words as true, can be v dangerouse. I have great relations with my customers,i explaine why i need toknow etc etc and not one has got the ump over my questions, infact quite a few have commented on how professional i have acted in getting my facts right, what they don't know is thats its to My benefit!

    tree ownership?

No its not, i dont take there word for it if its not obvious, people lie. you don't have to be rude about it it's how you ask, i would rather loose the job than end up in the middle of a dispute. Have you never had a customer say theres no tpo on theses trees? do you take there word for it then? i DON'T if i had of done i would of been up in court a few times now, customers telling porkies! If they think im being rude tough, dont think they will stick up for me in court do you! If its on a boundry i poit it out that it will be shared and go from there, im not on about sitting em down and holding them to ransom with a 200t, im talking about asking questions and checking the answers out, thats not disrespectful its finding fact from fiction.

    tree ownership?

Hear what ya saying Dean but its more hassle having neighbours having a go with you in the middle. I priced a job yesterday for a sycamore reduction, tree right on boundry, customer A wants it and is willing to pay cos it blocks his light out in summer, spoke to customer B who said "yes thats fine i aint bothered" but i told then i would need the job signed for before we start, both agreed no problem, and my ass is covered if one of em changes there mind after its done. I don't see it as disrespectful to quiz customers about ownership etc, aslong as its done in a nice and professional way of course, above all else MY ass WILL be covered. Theres just too many people out there looking toget somat for nowt.
  10. Why do you need BOTh to go into the industry? depends what you want to do once in it.
  11. Forget B+Q specials, get a second hand Stihl ot husky first if you cant afford new, you will get most of your money back if you sell it so wont loose out much. Jonsered, Husky or stihl around 45cc and a 15" bar is all you need, why do you want an 18" bar? shorter bar more power, easier to handle and safer.
  12. Sounds like it's Trousers down, hand in pocket and got to a dealer then and have a pro look at it!
  13. Do as the others have said but if you plan on keeping the chipper for any lengh of time consider doing it a differant colour than the make, eg if its a tinnywolf do it green with a white spout etc, sounds daft but it helps if it goes walkies, i have a Lovely greenmech thats light blue( was done for the first owners by GM) not many of them about! It wont help you with the coppers but it just helps YOU id it. Just a thought.
  14. And then people wonder why things are getting so expensive!!!!!! thinks its bollox to be honest, like Nige says aslong as people are trained, got the proper gear etc whats the problem. If i had to take some one with me on every stump job it wouldnt be worth doing really.
  15. Who told you that? i go out by myself but there again when its someone els its a differant matter in the H+S run world:001_rolleyes:
  16. Once "did" a bird called Lola she was ok for rescue aswell.
  17. Get rid of the Ivy and re pollard, see how you go and if you start and its worse that what you thought remove it.
  18. Never measure anything, yes logs do come out at differant sizes but aim for 7-9"
  19. I would too, in fact i am ......for you.
  20. Same here, there is good money to be made but i would hate to think i had to make a full time living at it or have thousands of pounds invested. It keeps me going at quite times and is a bonus.
  21. Was in Tad branch on Friday Baz, thats my local. Harlands at Green hammerton are cheaper though. Trouble is with Rippof f/s is that they do absolutley nowt for free, needed a new battery fort tractor a few weeks ago, called em up 65 quid plus vat but when i asked if they could test my old one first i got told yes but there will be a charge for "workshop" time to test! so i called at sewells of leeds as i passed, same battery, same price and tested for free! But yes i will call in and see ya in rippon when i pass next, Free coffee on offer i take it.
  22. Ordered min online sent a request to husky aswellso i can compare prices, dont rate the husky top handle but the ground saws are looking quite good. Although i LOVE stihl i am gonna keep my mind open too other products.
  23. The 020 was the old model, the new one is the ms200t, there was some carb/running problems a couple of years ago but i think its sorted now. the ms200t came out about 2002 or around there i think.
