  1. Some of the more powerful leccy saws are ok but dealing with 10" timber on a regular basis................not so sure you might be pushing it a bit.
  2. Looks good Matty, yeah i think you have taken enough off, mutch more and it will spoil the natural shape. if its that knackered fell it simples.
  3. Thanks guys, and thanks RUPE, your workings out make sense and to be honest i want to do the right thing as he is a mate aswell and he NEVER complains even when i cock a quote up and we have to tow our guts out to get in done in time. He is also good with customers and acts in a professional manner and an asset so i dont want to loose him. Looks like a call to HMRC on Monday. Like you said RUPE, the only worry for me is having to keep him going when work is lite.
  4. Dean dont work for other firms, so i guess im bang to rights, i can do without the hassle of PAYE etc but i also dont want gettin tugged by HMRC. scaffs work under the CIS scheme but like you mentioned RUPE i bet many realy should be employed in the true sense.
  5. cant put it or it will get edited........

  8. You never complained last time you were up it fatty!!!
  9. Yeah thats sort of what there gettin. am sure loades of people out there are gettin away with it but i want it to be right.
  10. Knew you would say that, can i take your mrs on please!
  11. Not according to the HMRC guy, it is nothing to do with hours, i can have a subby for 40 hours a week provided they have there own kit, insurance and go do the job, where the downfall is is that i provide everything so he is deemed to be an employee. Most full time scaffolders are s/e, its a thorny subject. My mate has a garage and he has 2 machanics s/e been working there 8 years, they provide there own spanners but he provides every thing else, Be better of as a rent boy, can work on me own then.
  12. Ok guys, this is aimed at the guys who work for themselves, like me. I need some help regarding what to do with my groundie Dean (apart from whip him harder) At the moment he is self employed and has been for years, until 2 years ago he was a s/e scaffolder, then he came to me, now it seems he shouldnt be s/employed at all, i got a letter asking a few questions so got in touch with HMRC and asked there guy, his reply was he should be employed as he is working full time hours, with my liability cover, using my tools etc etc, the deffonition of a s/employed person is someone who provides his own tools has own insurance etc like contract climbers. Do i try and "blag "it or do i take him on,i can do this on a limited contract but i dont want the hassle with PAYE and NIC etc. what are your guys on? I would rather him stop S\E but i want to be on the right side and not get any nasty supprises in 12 months time. What do i do?
  13. I tend to agree, i still get called "the tree man" or "the wood cutter" by some people! Most know what a tree surgeon is but havent a clur what Arboriculture is.
  14. Gonna have a guess here Dave..............A wood burning Aga, dont know owt about em to be honest.
  15. Conny makes goof firewood IMO, people think is crap firewood until they try it, better on a stove though as it can spit a bit.
  16. I cant get me head round things like "tree care" or things assosiated with care like tree doctor, how are you caring for them when you are felling a health tree? and do you give am a shot of night nurse in winter if there feelin sick?
  17. How about LTS tree services? Loppit, Toppit and scarper tree services:lol: bugger.....gone already to Dean Lofthouse:laugh1:
  18. Me to, 50 quid is a job you do on the way home, knock over a 10ft conny in a oner and straight threw the chipper in a oner. 10 mins in total.
  19. LOL like it John, i used to get upset with this sort of thing or when landscape boys got there B+Q special out and chrage the same as me but i dont now, way i see it is if someone can do it for free they aint a business and it cant be a big job anyway, the free men, scapers and pikies cant do bug stuff.
  20. Very good mate, only YOU would have music like that.....
  21. Sounds good Doug, gunna give that a try, i like liam hate the floppness of a porta wrap but ther good and cost efective.
