  1. For the pruning works the council cant insist on using an approved contractor any more than the general public can, if the contractor is operating on their land they can condition things like insurance but not an approved contractor. There are plenty of good contractors out there approved or not
  2. It was ever thus..... Gave one new guy an 026 (it was a few years back) to sned a top with, his reply "I am not familiar with this model", still wanted top wage though.
  3. I have used the muck truck in the past, its a good tool except for the finish Powder coat on the tinworks sheared edges, doesn't take well and the truck was a rusty disgrace within 2 years. Get the edges "fettled" or change the coating
  4. Looking at that out of context it makes little sense, where did you take those figures from?
  5. Perhaps they should die off, as you say if there isn't the demand they will expire There are many reasons the APF is a Bi annual affair and demand is one of them. Once upon a time there was only the APF now there are a lot more shows and that will reach saturation point.
  6. Do you work for the Arb Assn? You do know this show is one of their major money earners don't you? I would say its up to them to make the show interesting enough, shopping I can do on line.
  7. There shouldn't be any noticeable noise at any speed. If you flip the belts off and spin the flywheel by hand (mind yer fingers) the action should be smooth, bearings on their way out will rumble and knackered ones will allow the flywheel to move with the aid of a pry bar or similar.
  8. Anyone know how to get splinters out of the nether regions?
  9. A lot of judgement based on a photograph. None of us can see what's on the other side of that rise. Could be three or four guys sitting in the sun eating lunch.
  10. If the tree is subject to a TPO the LA can dictate what you can and cant do, in a conservation area you get to say what you want to do and they get to say yes or no. Many trees in a conservation area are of lower amenity value and as such if a notification to fell were presented the LA would probably allow it rather than make an order then loose at appeal Not that this is significant to you, a "211" to put lag hooks into a tree for a tree house is going to be frowned upon, have you considered other methods?
  11. Straight out of college green as grass into a slow job market, take whatever job you can get
  12. You should be allowed forward firing machine guns for such ocasions:laugh1:
  13. I am sure that's probably not legal but its what I do as well
  14. They can already do you a onner for the phone, that's going up to 200
  15. My condolences. Nothing anyone can say will make this better but time will make it less raw.
  16. Nooooooooooo . In a conservation area you NOTIFY your intention, the LA has then the option of making a TPO to prevent you carrying out your notified works or allowing you to carry them out. This is effectively a lesser degree of protection unless what you proposed is ruinous to trees of sufficient amenity value Any invasive works will be looked on with a sceptical eye, making the tree house free standing with any attachments done with non invasive techniques will be your best route to a problem free installation. Bolting beams and suspension points will likely attract a TPO
  17. Do you mean by this an area order or are you referring to the conservation area
  18. If you are DIY then these guys have all you need Service Metals Group-Europes leading Aluminium and steel profiles supplier
  19. That's the spirit, a towing licence can be worth more than tickets.
  20. Once you have checked the electrical system (the most likely candidate) if the fault persists we can look at other causes.
  21. Just a slight derail Keep using it or you loose it.....respect to the "burn the bus pass" attitude
  22. Get yourself a 12v test lamp and make sure you have supply to the switch and that the switched feed goes live, assuming that's ok chase the live till you find a problem, it goes to a relay and then the coil on the solenoid valve next. Solenoids and coils can go bad, they usually just stop working but what you describe could be a thermal fault.
  23. Try Equicar for a rear bulkhead, they had a pile of them not long ago Equicar 4x4 UK used parts - used spares - accessories - 4x4 Breakers, Land Rover, Toyota, Mitsubishi shogun, Jeep, 4x4 Dismantlers, Spare Parts, Used Parts, off road, cherokee, discovery, accessories.
  24. I wouldn't call the filler breather definitive, it's a standard hydraulic part available over the counter at any good hydraulic supplier, you can even get them on ebay hydraulic filler breather | eBay
