On the contrary, mature vegetation is a proven asset to a property, what is left is an eyesore and detracts from the property value, its removal will improve the situation but that has a cost implication even if the tree is not replaced. The property has been damaged and that's what the deposit is for. You don't need to have had the intention of doing anything with the tree for there to have been a loss, the fact that you no longer have it is loss. That's completely irrelevant in law, it MAY have been noted on a survey but that's not relevant to any case for loss

  11. The law in the UK requires an element of intent for the criminal aspect to apply. In the UK its difficult to get the police interested in vegetation related crime, they like to fob it off as a neighbour dispute if they can. It often ends with the victim usually suing for financial loss and or an injunction to prevent it happening again. Having away with a tree (firewood) that belongs to another is theft plain and simple.

  13. So since my last attempt at making a Yew self longbow was a bit of a disaster I am looking for a bit of help this time around. I have a couple of chunks of yew about 8" dia and of a suitable length, where do I go from here, any bowyers out there?
  14. Are you sure about that? What law is that then and how dose the removal of otherwise healthy vegetation come under "looking after"?
