  1. Good effort, well worth a go is it was otherwise chipper fodder
  2. Looks like a graft to me
  3. Check the systems oil level, it sounds like you have air in the system. Air will cause hesitation in the ram movement outward but possibly not on the return stroke because the volume occupied by the rod means you need less oil for the return stroke.
  4. Ahhh yes, but convince myself says the extra weight would make a difference, also my authority made us have 2 extra wheelie bins under penalty of law and then had the cheek to tell us what sort of stuff we could or more significantly COULDNT put in the plastics bin. If you are recycling recycle it all not just the easy stuff to tick a box in government targets
  5. Well I like it:biggrin: But they don't have the biner in the shop
  6. In good "convince myself" style I tell myself that anything I put on the burner is a good thing because I am saving the world from the use of fossil fuels involved in getting it to the recycling centre processing and doing god knows what to it, in good "convince myself and crack on with it" style I am going to declare "its a grey area"
  7. I have a mechanic friend who recons a filter element from a 1.8 (minimum) engine is worth at least a tank full of hot water
  8. Nope, if it were timing it wouldn't run even on ether, and if its got the original engine there is no timing belt
  9. On that year it was probably born as a 2.5 turbo which is a nasty wheezy as attic thing and a long way short of a TDi So he is trying to flog you a 2.5 turbo NON RUNNER with a rusty chassis, I haven't seen it but I will bet my next meal the chassis will need some work. If its had a galv chassis at some point, as well as me loosing my supper, it may be worth buying it and fitting a TDi but if the chassis is a basket case it's a complete re build. Either way you don't want to be parting with that kind of money. If its just a fuel issue it want to be about £800 as a non runner, if the chassis is goosed half a grand would be about right. Others will tell you that it's worth more but there is no cure for landroveritis or masochism.
  10. OK so its got fuel starvation, could be filters, could be a bad lift pump, could be crud in the tank blocking the pick up, could even be a knackered injector pump. When he says it starts on easy start, what he means is it wont run but it will fire on ether which isn't saying much. What year is it and how much is he asking?
  11. Firstly stop arsing about with the ether, its not a good idea Your engine has fuel problems, what engine is it?
  12. If by leak off hose you mean the spill return system, it goes back to the fuel tank, its under pressure (slight) so any issue will be a fluid leak, not drawing air, even if it did draw air it goes to the tank and plays no part in the running if the engine.
  13. You are just the latest in a long line of people looking for loop holes, firstly lets point out that what you have read is guidance not the law. Your argument relies on semantics, you cite And you are taking the “in a manner likely to destroy” to apply to all the actions whereas it actually applies to the wilful damage part and the “cut down, lop, top, uproot” parts are all offence absolute. Your opinion that Is also flawed, there have been any number of successful prosecutions
  14. In a case where tree works are needed to implement full planning consent the consent trumps TPO. Outline planning dosent cut the mustard
  15. Mac 9? Where is that then
  16. You can download the deeds from the land registry for a couple of quid ( provided the property is registered)
  17. It boils down to the HSE, I think Francis Hirst is still in charge at the wood sector, I can dig out the phone number if you like or you can just Google HSE wood sector, they were based at Stoneleigh park but that might have changed.
  18. If its a leak in the "leak off" (spill return) system, that goes back to tank and has nothing to do with how the engine runs
  19. Or dirt in the fuel tank
  20. Should have said this sooner but condolences on your loss Not really screwed, offer the buy out on projected earnings, take it or take the wage, but fill the empty boots to get it. It sounds a bit harsh in the circumstances but you have to look after yourself
  21. You an make your vehicle safe to drive quietly
  22. Quality
  23. My ice scraper works on BOTH sides of the glass, quality, its grim up North and we begrudge the price of de icer
  24. She wants a wage for doing next to nothing, that wage should be next to nothing, she wants half the profits for doing nothing, not a prayer. She has inhered half the value of the company as it stands Offer her that as a buy out
