  1. Foresters, hand cutting and stacking pallet/pulp all day is a hard shift!! Dodging about as a tree surgeon in someones garden getting cups of tea is a doddle in comparison
  2. 2 other guys and a tractor and pto chipper. And i would break it down a fair bit before i felled it, oh yes i know how much sawdust there would be but i don't mind shoveling sawdust of the tarp, as for the hard slog ringing, i may be another day but i dont mind mate i just put my ipod on and get on with it, nowt last forever. Everyone is different:biggrin:
  3. If you are ringing it up, fell the stem on top of bearers and a big tarpolin as there will be millions of sawdust and its so much easier and quicker to tidy up rather than try and rake the grass. looks like a good job though mate £1100 1 day with help and 2 days myself
  4. quite good value then is there an expiry date on it? i have various digger, mewp etc tickets on LANTRA but they were 5 year tickets so i will have to be re-assessed on them, is the grinder one the same?
  5. the moneys rubbish unless you make the grade, undercard fighters can get paid as little as a grand!!
  6. Are you sure your injury is from working as you lift some heavy weights martyn? I have lots of injuries but i would not contribute any to climbing i would say some of mine came from lifting lumps of timber that should have been cut in half, the injuries i carry came from years of combat sports, but you must be putting massive strain on your body with the weights you lift dont get me wrong its impressive but could be the source of your injuries?
  7. thats what i was thinking i thought they started at £200+.

  16. this looks a handy combination with someone with good towing capabilities 6" Diesel Wood Chipper & Tipper Trailer on eBay (end time 29-Aug-09 14:29:04 BST)
  17. last couple of days work nothing fancy conifers felled and grinded, but they were fantastic customers paid extra as soon as we were finished and constantly fed us:thumbup:
  18. Countys are really slow though (well the ones ive drove were) you would need to leave the house two hours before the job starts What is the road speed on a county anyone know?
  19. If they are not too big dig them out, trench all the way round cutting any big roots, hook the tirfor on a root at the back as low as you can this will pull it out. to be fair though, the time that will take you will work out the same price as a grinder hire!! but i do agree it makes alot less mess than a grinder.

  21. Nice view, Silkys have a lot to answer too!!! you will soon need a ticket to use one if the H & S knew the amount of cuts they cause
  22. nice one mate, thats karma for you:001_smile:
  23. my mate has it buzz it was a requirement of edinburgh council (building works) but having it got him a contract for scottish water ( i sub to him for the fencing) but he says it was quite a drawn out procedure to get it and they want paid.
  24. Your plan of chopping up branches in the back of an L200 with a couple of bits of shuttering ply as greedy boards is going to look alot more "pikey" than a smiley face transit or ldv with proper made sides and some sign writing. Most of us started up chopping up branches in the back of a van/trailer my advice to you is keep all the money you make from jobs and buy a cheap chipper as you will soon get demented chopping branches Best of luck to you
  25. i have a set of long reach tanaka hedge cutters snapped a couple of parts in the gears but parts are cheap, leave a nice fine cut so i use them for the tighter trimmed hedges and i use my stihl ones for any serious hedging
