i was the same, i thought it was a great saw and in the woods i cut thousands of tons of wood with it , traded it in for a 254 and regretted it i did not like the 254. if any one is selling an old 266 pm the details id be interested.
  3. I would try it and see what happens, a lot of folk seem to be concerned about being perceived as pikeys which is understandable as everyone wants to look as professional as possible, but if i had no work i would have no problem with flyer's, knocking doors, cold calling etc in a pro and polite manner as bills need to be paid and the kids need to be fed. And as for looking like a pikey you will look more like one if you have no income, lose your house and need to stay in a caravan!! read "guerrilla marketing" martyn some interesting statistics and ideas on how to possible attract new clients. hope it works out for you
  4. couple of beech i done yesterday, one was wedged over, the other the canopy dropped as not to damage a mature beech in front of it work done for an estate and they do all the clear up (great), as you can see the reason for felling they are dead!!!,measured them on the ground first one 106 feet the second 85 feet sad to see old mature trees coming to the end, never mind back down to do more today hi ho hi ho its off to work i go....
  5. ill go out on a limb to say i like trees ( that ones not for the comp) i like trees but they pay my mortgage i like trees but my fire says "there hot"
  6. ive got one, i needed it to get an account with the landfill site i use.
  7. what a talent, man i cant cut firewood the same length:001_smile:
  8. every day should be a school day. i was taught how to climb like that years ago using only your rope, even with all our advances there is still occasionally a place for some old school:001_tongue:
  9. fantastic work there, real pieces of art.

  12. Always get home to kiss your children goodnight they are the reason you are working so hard, material things mean nowt. OOhh and never sh** with your trousers up
  13. lol yeah and expect you to remember them and everything about the job
  14. i always put an expiry date on the quote, been caught out a few times when you go back and you have priced the job to drop cut the canopy and you find a new greenhouse, created flower bed and rovers grave (with headstone and flowers) under the tree...aaaaggggh as you moan to the groundie get the rigging bag:001_smile: so i give them 3 weeks. some interesting replies though
  15. i only take protein after a heavy training session ( pre comps) as it stops my body feeling so sore the next morning, never felt or noticed any side effects Are you working so hard during the day that your body is breaking down?? eat a couple of tins of sardines or tuna that will give you plenty protein but as above posts says its complex carbs you need for sustained slow release energy
  16. yep done that old chestnut before, but you dont get every job so there must be a substantial cost in quoting.
  17. Do any of you guys charge for quoting a job? i personally don't but with the price of fuel the way it is i wonder if it will become common practice. The reason i ask is i had a call with the lady saying "do you do free quotes" but repeated it a few times almost like she was asked to pay before.
  18. no never, ive bought quite a lot of stuff from the states and never been hit with tax or duty i must be lucky:001_smile: heard some people have been stung though!!
