  1. The older i get the better i was
  2. some fantastic posts here and i really feel for some of you, i have been lucky to not suffer as much as some but had the usual what if's, but a couple of years ago my brother in law dropped dead at 45!! just went to his work got a cup of tea and dropped he was dead before he hit the floor, we were devastated he left 2 boys and my sister, that changed everything for me i look after my family and spend as much time as i can with them, and as for material things they are nice but i would put a match to the lot and stay in a tent with my family than lose another like that. Each day is a gift thats why they call it the present.
  3. great job and pictures, some brilliant kit there.
  4. Dont stop with your van sign written someone might think you did it
  5. it was lighter than the tub and it held about 3 cube and even full it never "looked" overloaded but the actual weight is anyones guess.
  6. first option looks good but the second is the one that solves the problem for us all:thumbup:
  7. It was really good i wish i had not sold it, i have no pictures though it was a while ago, i built the full chip box in 30x30mm box then sheeted it in alloy.
  8. i done a hi-lux once mate fabricated it from scratch though, i mounted the hinge directly to the hi- lux chassis and built a bed that tipped from that point,i think the transit bed would sit too high up on the ranger chassis.
  9. i am sure there are plenty doing it, this guy might be an exception as he gets more benefits from his son being disabled. I dont think ive seen many on the dole that dont have a big tv and x-box!! getting far too much money handed to them.
  10. I would not worry about that, thats a normal night out in most places i know:001_smile: Log supplier, the kit was all locked away in the storage box behind the tipper they cut the padlock off !! i think these type of opportunist thief's have a good idea if you have a locked box there will be something worth stealing in it.
  11. a guy i know who goes to the local gym him and his wife/3 kids gets roughly £2500 from the state each month!!!! that is taking into account his rent/tax credits/benefits and carers allowance etc etc and thats the problem right there is there is no incentive for those to work if you can bring in that kind of money.
  12. Hi-flex for me, but i do put a pair of light combats over them as above when im doing conifers it saves them quite well, we use to do this when forestry felling as your ballistics got wrecked stacking pulp/pallet wood. Its a good tip.
  13. cheers mate, i think i get it:confused1: but i will keep going until i do,thanks for your input.
  14. cheers for the comments guys. how do you change the taper? Jamie i am in west lothian , i think ive met you before mate do you work for Alistair heggie?
  15. First one of many i hope, the eye is large as i want to tow it to destruction Any constructive (or other) criticism welcome
  16. i use a micro on the blake i like it, good for slack tending and footlocking the tail, although i am trying a vt at the moment but the jury is still out on that.
  17. congratulations mate, its only when you hold them in your arms it all comes clear that this is what life is all about, enjoy every second and as swb said you wont want to leave the house. i wish you and your wife all the best.
  18. As already said mate get the Arborist's Certification Study Guide as for it being difficult "you will never know if you dont go" im isa cert arb just read the guide inside out and do the sample questions in the back, give it a go, regardless pass or fail its always good to study and learn.
  19. Really ? thats shocking i was saying it thinking that would be ridiculous !! the mind of criminal eh.
  20. As usual- its sods law, he had the big saws in cause they were ringing up timber they had felled the day before, finished quicker than he had planned so decided to catch a small trimming job on the way back as he is the same he takes the kit in with him but thinking "i will only be an hour" we have all done it, interestingly he said if they held them to ransom he would pay to get them back, that will be next Kidnapped Kit, "send us the money or we put straight petrol in"
  21. My mate asked me to put this up, yesterday as he was working doing a hedge round the back garden, pickup parked at the front on the main road, Someone came along cut a padlock off the tool storage unit and took 2 x ms390,1 x ms460, 1 x 200t and a blower this was between 2 and 2-30 in the afternoon!!! Doubt very much if he will get the gear back but just wanted to point out that these criminals don't care and have some bottle to do that in the middle of the day. Watch your gear guys.
  22. "hi boss, go and hand us up the tv remote, oh and milk and two"
  23. Depends your age and how fast you heal as an individual, the bones should heal pretty quick its the tendons that take the time, my mate tore his achilles tendon and was in a special shoe thing for 6 weeks that the hospital adjusted every week, then he had physiotherapy to build it back up . Sorry to hear your injured though mate get well soon.
  24. Yeah id do that, i like adrenalin hits.
  25. yep had a go last night on a old section of 12 strand and followed the instructions from a web site, was very difficult and frustrating my hands are still sore!! i was finding it difficult to follow the text instructions, i will continue until a workshop comes along or i loss the plot. High scale the thread i was on about was the 16 strand splice you done it looked excellent. cheers for all the advice.
