  1. Haven't put the hours in you guys have, but this is about 11years ago, first time in a harness .
  2. Professional looking setup!
  3. I think I know the firm Stefan is referring too, they had a bad bad reputation but have since folded (a few times). But private companies can and do treat staff very well IME. (My company is contracted in for arborist specific line work by a few other companys) And trees are climbed. The ones the ground fellers can't do get arborist felled, reduced, high stumped etc. We do a lot of reductions, both fine reductions and heavy ones. As needed. You need to go on a safety course specific to the line company (e.g vattenfall), have tickets relevant to the work under 5years old Pay terms as a contractor here is normally send the invoice at the end of the month and paid 30 days later
  4. Between longmelford and glemsford?? Lovely tree that
  5. How do you transport the pair? Together or seperately?
  6. What tractor is that, BCS? And trailer capacity? How'd you rate that setup loaded up? Nice tidy site and nice looking job btw
  7. Looks a good day How much fuel did you get through?
  8. IME/IMO of using/driving, never owning mind, sub 18tonners with decent crane and tipping gear are too easy to overload. In the next few years I'm aiming for something like this, a scania p94 with 13m crane, about 5 ton payload
  9. What was the "hypothetical" emergency?
  10. Then it's got to be down to the nature of the emergency, life and death, hospital, house on fire, leave, no questions asked. Mates car broken down, hamsters died ect, either leave unpaid aslong as it doesn't affect co workers or crack on. Especially if it's late in the day as in OP
  11. Are you meaning that the one who needs to get home, doesn't have his own transport so would need the team to down tools to give him a lift?
  12. New 190?
  13. Is that 4x4? This ones advertised as 4x4, not sure if it is though, looks like a normal one
  14. Impressive Tom!
  15. A good reason to have trailer MOT's like in other european countries
  16. Ive got the older, heavy version of these, same mount as the Stihl earmuffs [ame=http://www.amazon.com/3M-Communications-Headset-MT16H21FWS5UM580-Reduction/dp/B00DHVXF2E]3M Peltor WS 100 Communications Headset MT16H21FWS5UM580, 20 dB Noise Reduction, Black: Safety Ear Muffs: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41dryB5KwZL.@@AMEPARAM@@41dryB5KwZL[/ame] Pretty much every single grab waggon, tractor, digger driver has peltor comms headsets over here
  17. Re-top/pollard and maintain/manage appropriately Be a shame to loose that stem and all the biodiversity it likely houses Nice bit of firewood in the pollard stems for the client now, and again in the future when its re-topped....growing their own firewood!
  18. Its not Rip off Britain, although you may feel it is. Its about strength of economies for a start. When i came to sweden 6 years ago, the pound was weak, around 10 kronor to the pound, making buying kit from the UK cheaper than what my local dealer (stihl/husqvarna) could buy them in at. now its 15 kronor to the pound prices are on par. back then it made it look like rip off sweden! After all, how could it cheaper to buy swedish products in foreign countries??? Look at the discounts dealers will give you without asking on some kit like chainsaws compared to RRP, I remember one APF a dealer saying he was making £4 per saw profit, sod that! As Mick Dempsy, it varies country to country tree kit is typically 25% more than the uk, vehicles too, 2nd hand tippers are 4 times the price as in the uk, beer 2-3 times, meat is more. I now buy my climbing kit from germany not the uk (rubbish choice here)...perhaps their currency is weak at the moment? The distributor will have a deal with the manufacture, they've got to take on any crap with warranty, breakdowns, unhappy customers etc. If you buy from germany, and the kit goes wrong, will the uk dealer help you or just say tough luck?? So do you take the risk and save some money or support the UK economy, jobs etc, instead of moaning about it?
