    Trailers

You might be able to tow more than 750kg depending on licence date and tow vehicle Licences issued from 19 January 2013 From 19 January 2013, drivers passing a category B (car and small vehicle) test can tow: small trailers weighing no more than 750kg a trailer over 750kg as long as the combined weight of the trailer and towing vehicle is no more than 3,500kg (3.5 tonnes) Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) If you want to tow a trailer weighing more than 750kg, when the combined weight of the towing vehicle and trailer is more than 3,500kg, you’ll have to pass a further test and get B+E entitlement on your licence. You’ll then be able to tow trailers up to 3,500kg. Licences held from 1 January 1997 If you passed your driving test after 1 January 1997 and have an ordinary category B (car) licence, you can: drive a vehicle up to 3,500kg MAM towing a trailer of up to 750kg MAM tow a trailer over 750kg MAM as long as the combined MAM of the trailer and towing vehicle is no more than 3,500kg For anything heavier you need to take a category B+E driving test. Licences held before 1 January 1997 If you passed your car test before 1 January 1997 you’re generally entitled to drive a vehicle and trailer combination up to 8,250kg MAM. This is the weight of a vehicle or trailer including the maximum load that can be carried safely when it’s being used on the road. You also have entitlement to drive a minibus with a trailer over 750kg MAM.
  3. When I work for other companies I normally turn up with everything as I don't normally know what I'll be doing. Even basic signage. Most of the time they'll send a groundsman and second climber, but no rigging kit. Not because they're duff companies but when they've got 10 or more teams out, others might know they need kits/bits are dispersed/the away teams have the kits ect The bosses then don't need to worry when they hire me, there's no "can't do it because..." I might see a way of getting the job done more efficiently with extra kit i.e. Speed line etc If you want to charge a premium, you've got to provide everything imo
  4. That'll be lovely Matty Can you not "parbuckle" it up onto a decent trailer? I got this 30" x 3.6m stem on the trailer with just the drive creep on the autobox
  5. Awesome setup you've made yourself Peter, something similar I'd want in the future
  6. Nice John Didn't member Giles have that? and Buzz?
  7. Great advise, thanks tom. Was the guarding from Kilworths or BCS?
  8. Awesome, thanks tom. On the new machines, is the loader/grip all controlled on the joystick? Are there any extras you'd wish'd you'd specced when new or specced but don't need?
  9. What model Pasquali is that Oakley? Front steer or arctic? and what do you think of the loader? Thanks
  10. heard about dodgy scales before pete, did you ask to be weighed at another desk? Ryanair - "dodgy" scales in Spain - MoneySavingExpert.com Forums
  11. I'll add to the thanks to Rob / Chainsaw bars, i wanted a sugi light bar from Gustharts, but none of the size i wanted instock or at chainsaw bars, so rob sent the solid one instead and a Saw combi tool aswell as compensation! Great gesture, much appreciated!
  12. Haven't put the hours in you guys have, but this is about 11years ago, first time in a harness .
  13. I think I know the firm Stefan is referring too, they had a bad bad reputation but have since folded (a few times). But private companies can and do treat staff very well IME. (My company is contracted in for arborist specific line work by a few other companys) And trees are climbed. The ones the ground fellers can't do get arborist felled, reduced, high stumped etc. We do a lot of reductions, both fine reductions and heavy ones. As needed. You need to go on a safety course specific to the line company (e.g vattenfall), have tickets relevant to the work under 5years old Pay terms as a contractor here is normally send the invoice at the end of the month and paid 30 days later
  14. How do you transport the pair? Together or seperately?
  15. What tractor is that, BCS? And trailer capacity? How'd you rate that setup loaded up? Nice tidy site and nice looking job btw
  16. Looks a good day How much fuel did you get through?
  17. IME/IMO of using/driving, never owning mind, sub 18tonners with decent crane and tipping gear are too easy to overload. In the next few years I'm aiming for something like this, a scania p94 with 13m crane, about 5 ton payload
  18. Then it's got to be down to the nature of the emergency, life and death, hospital, house on fire, leave, no questions asked. Mates car broken down, hamsters died ect, either leave unpaid aslong as it doesn't affect co workers or crack on. Especially if it's late in the day as in OP
  19. Are you meaning that the one who needs to get home, doesn't have his own transport so would need the team to down tools to give him a lift?
  20. Is that 4x4? This ones advertised as 4x4, not sure if it is though, looks like a normal one
