  1. Like a few of the others I try and use electrolyte drinks either ready made like Gatorade or sometimes one of the powdered ones. The likes of Gatorade are full of sugar so you have to watch them. I also sometimes have a bag of peanuts at the end of a big day to get some salt back in to the system. Just drinking water alone is going to lead to cramping not resolve it. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  3. I have a trip to New York coming up so it's going to be a visit to B&H and Adorama. So much choice is what gives me a headache.
  4. Re read your post and then went and had a bit of a look at the Mirrorless. Interested in how they compare to the DSLRs in picture quality etc. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Steve, to be fair I don't know much about the rangefinder or the mirrorless. Happy to hear more. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Starting to narrow it down a little. Looking at possibly a refurbished 7d leaving more money for a couple of good lenses. I like the sound of that 500mm bob but I'm looking more for a wide angle for landscape and city scape shots. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. I've been looking at the 7D and the full frame 6D. I also looked at Nikon but I know the Canon too well now so would prefer not to change. Problem is, the Nikons get some really good reviews, hence the thread. I think the mirrorless ones need to advance a little further before I look at them as from what I've seen, although they are good they aren't quite as good as the pro DSLR's. And yes, I am also in the market for new lenses.
  8. We have a 192 as a back up for the 200. Great little saw for smaller stuff and I'm quite happy to pull it out first for a lot of jobs rather than the 200. Not tried the 150 though so can't comment on it. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. I am in the market for a new DSLR and am stuck between Nikon and Canon. I currently have the EOS1000D but want something with more clout. So who uses what and who recommends what?
  10. Electro acupuncture and osteo. They run a current through acupuncture needles. Makes the muscle contract and then release over and over again and help to loosen the spasm before manipulation. Only think that worked for me after I'd tried physio and a chiro.sounds horrendous but it's actually quite nice but take barley sugars or something for after as your blood sugar levels take a hammering for some reason. 11. Isn't that nice? So often people are quick to critisize and complain and very rarely do you get a compliment. For someone to take the time to write a letter like this? Feel good factor for a good few weeks I'd say.
  12. I use similar crabs with my SJ and just use a Beale pinch to keep everything in place. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Not yet Dexta. 3 more weeks and I'm on the plane. Hopefully I can find a few of the real biggies. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  17. We have the 12 inch drum. Awesome bit of kit. Says 12 inches on it and it eats 12 inches. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  19. I've handed heaps out, even just to friends as they're a bit of a talking point. Will definitely be ordering more. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Jeez that's so much cheaper than the equivalent in NZ Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  22. Same same. Mines still hanging up in the garage, probably the same vintage. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. One of my clients is a senior judge. Next door neighbours to his holiday home hacked his Rhododendron hedge. I suggested it was criminal damage. He said it was nothing of the sort but left the neighbours in no doubt if it happened again there'd be trouble. A local resident decided he wanted firewood so hopped over the fence onto the council reserve and took to a couple of Banksias. Council has now sent him a letter telling him they may take him to court for criminal damage. Seems even the law doesn't know what is and what isn't but the threat of it carries a bit of weight it seems. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  25. I use a SJ and am quite happy with it. With a larger diameter rope it can be a little jumpy until the cam wears but a slightly smaller rope will run smoother and self tend better. It can be a little "puckering" the first time you use it as you have to sit back against it to lock it off. If you hold on to the rope or the SJ generally it tends to keep sliding. Usually I give the tail of the rope a quick tug upwards as I sit back and it all locks off nicely. Getting used to the breaking system can also be "interesting" as you can go into free fall if you get it wrong. Just practice with it a little and start off low and slow. I love mine and wasn't tempted to swap when the ZZ came out. Very glad I didn't, it does have its faults but I prefer it over a hitch. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
