1. Ok, few updates. The poisoner was found guilty at court and, as he couldn't afford to pay for diversion, has to pay $8,000 at $10 per week for the next 15 years. He's 94 now so go figure. Also, the trees didn't recover, unfortunately so they started coming down today. Because we had to take the case to court we couldn't take the trees down ourselves so we had Treescape come in to price and deal to them. We will be helping out for a couple of them. 2. I'm not sure if I asked originally who the supplier was Eco. I know there have been a couple of less reputable ones in the past but the current dealer, Hydralada, have been fantastic. Anyway, looks like its taken care of now so all, hopefully, is good. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
3. Heck, that was a read and a half. Still not completely enlightened but that might have something to do with the schnapps in the wine. So where now Silky or did I miss that bit? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
4. Hey Silky, just caught up with the last page or so after 7 weeks off. You're in the move I see? Haven't had the chance to read the whole thread since I left but can you update me briefly? Sorry to be so lazy but I've got stuff coming outa my ears I have to catch up on. And I hear ya too. Sometimes it's nice to visit the concrete jungle but the rural lifestyle is a hard call to ignore. 5. Cold but beautiful Jon, although I was out in shorts and singlet today. Not bad for winter eh? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
6. If you're anywhere on the west coast, get clued up before you go out. The rips can be really bad and have claimed a lot of lives so understand what you're dealing with, talk to the locals and then have fun. Piha, Bethells, Muriwai and (out of town) Raglan, are the big surf spots in easy reach of Auckland. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
7. If people are still interested; current rumble is that both Treescape and Asplundh are looking for workers. I was told yesterday that Asplundh want 18 guys. Maybe take with a pinch of salt but I'd guess there's no smoke without fire. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
8. I have to say I'm still happy with ours. When the boys from the local Utility company turn up with their Vermeer they're always keen to get to use ours and leave there's alone. Hasn't let us down yet and munches pretty much everything we throw at it. Stalled it only once. Just don't lose anything down the back side of the drum (obviously on the drum machines) when changing blades as it's a major to fish it out again. Yes, everything is heavy but that's kinda reassuring.
9. Well, Treetools only had one pair of the Air Zermatts left and they were a size 9. Much as I tried, they just wouldn't quite fit snugly enough so ended up with a pair of Stein Phantoms. Hope they are as good as people make out. On the plus side, my Meindles are being resoled. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
10. I wouldn't pay £300+ when I can get a pair of Meindles for £100 cheaper! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
11. Nice timing with this thread. My Meindles are to be re-soled so I need a new pair of boots mean time. Now, I know someone is going to say; get another pair but I want something with a harder wearing sole as I spend more time on the ground these days. Looking at the Stein Phantom but I'm open to suggestions. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
12. Hmmm, wonder why the light is blown out so much after posting the photos.
13. Couple of recent ones from our US trip. should have a few more to post sometime.
14.
Thanks Merle. Apologies for the late reply but i've only just seen your message. Just returned from San Francisco after nearly 6 weeks in the US. Now to start planning for the next trip. Where are you based by the way?

15. Not sure where you are Ted but I just got back from San Francisco. Mid 60s and crap time of year to be there they told me. Well, we got mid 80s most of the time and a heat wave. Arrived back to a NZ winter although it sounds like I missed the worst of it so far. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

18. Hey thanks Merie. We are heading south today but unfortunately we need to be in San Francisco to pick keys up to our apartment for the last leg of our trip. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
19. An apology for over loading with photos but this place has to be seen to be believed. Also, a massive thanks to MDVaden. I reread this thread several times to pick out all the info from Mario. Several times his info proved way better than I was able to pick up in the visitor centre as they seemed to cater more to selling trinkets to the tourists (me included). You can spend weeks in the park exploring. As it was we got a couple of days of driving and walking. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

23. Well, made it to Brookings this evening and a very pleasant place it is to. Drove out of Seattle on Monday and spent a day and half at mt St Helens in the B&B from hell but the observatory over looking the mountain was cool and the old growth forests not affected by the eruption are pretty awesome. Headed from there across to Cannon Beach but didn't stop. Bit too touristy for me. Ended up just crashing the night in Lincoln City and got to Brookings at around 4. Going to head to crescent city tomorrow early, get digs and then head on out to the Redwoods to explore. Can't wait. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

25. The survivor tree at the 911 memorial. Apparently it was broken down to an 8 foot stump. Supported by cable bracing, they've given it a 25 year life span. Cuttings taken so there is a continuos line for replanting from the one tree. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
