  1. Search throwline reels. A person could think of it like a fishing reel for throwline, You hold it in two hands as you wind it up and drop it on the ground in front of you for the throw or shot and it neatly plays the line out as the weight sails toward your desired destination.
  2. I must have missed something in the translation. I am clear that Write saws are done and dead as far as production tools are concerned. "difflock's" discription brought the Write saw to mind and I wondered if he had ever seen it.
  3. Everybody is probably right as far as being safe and intelligent is concerned. However, if you want to get a thing done, find a risk taker (or be one.) We will all be dead soon enough in the grand scheme of things. What does a person want to do with their life is a major point to consider in my mind. Not can x be easily done. Do you know how many famous people in their fields were told to quit a thing, including opera singers told by famous voice coaches that they had no talent - take up sewing? Henry Ford’s engineers came back to him at 3 months, 6 months, and etc. and said it just can not be done. Fine he said, now go design me an 8 cylinder engine. At three years he had one. Historical examples are endless. Are our current selection of battery operated tools sufficient to take us out into what we need for the future? No. Well someone is going to design and build those. Core is one co. in the US that is putting out tools with interchangeable batts and brushless motors. That is one start. Batts are close to exploding in capability. Look up all the info you can find on graphene as it relates to batteries and storage etc..
  4. kevinjohnsonmbe, If I am not mistaken one of David’s points from earlier in the thread is that they can’t be consistently purchased any cheaper than marked XRRings. Darrin Turnbull, David can update on sources. Actually I think Antal is being a true to their agreement company (true to David) soon will be supplying items not thought of previously without David’s creativity. I will send David a message and see if he can weigh in and tell us the facts. I know he has been sick and under the weather for a while now. I look forward to sometime when David has this all down on his website under “History” or some such. I have pieced bits together from going and working with him for a couple of weeks and having seen XRR “Testing To Destruction” video that he has since taken off YouTube etc.. The time and money he has put into learning the parameters of what is safely possible with these Rings is over the top. That single video not only amazed me for it’s content and what it showed but also that he worked his crane and four guys there doing set up testing for at least two days just to prove out what was safe, and how far you could push beyond safe.
  5. David (Xman) is a stand up guy, anyone who can see their way clear to buy rings branded X to support his efforts in bringing them over to the Arb industry will be doing us all a favor. I happen to know that his creative and driven mind has things stacked up that are waiting to come on line and into production. The THT is just a minor example of that. Being intrigued by innovation and invention I also happen to know a number of the back stories of people that have invented things for the Arb industry. It surprises me actually that to a person they have not all told us to stuff it - the $ just are not there in payback. What is left if we take away the emotional gratification as well. David will do fine and keep going anyway, he may well see this some time and tell me to shut up. Other inventors I could list off, if I had their permission, not so well. Many have stopped inventing and developing new tools for us already. My request; lets treat our inventors and innovators well.
  6. My opinion is that bullying and flaming are very specific things far closer in character to abuse and rape etc. than squabbling. They are about power over not about back and forth evenhandedness just like rape is known to be far more about power over than about sex. If this is the case then it is better (more impowering) for the community to say we will not tolerate this than for the community to go to the victim and say, are you ok with it? Any sound functioning adult can control themselves. If they are told that x is not acceptable behavior and they make the choice to continue - THEY have selected themselves out. If we chose who will be our companions and contempararies in life based on their value to us in this endevor or that then criminals and some of the worst leaders in history would be what we surrounded ourselves with oftentimes.
  7. Jim thanks so much that is exactly what my dealer needed to move forward. I'll get it to him after the weekend. Can't wait to be fumeless on a bunch of my lighter work.
  8. JimM I’m ready to buy a Husqvarna 536 LIXP (significantly due to members posts and reviews here). What part number or contact person at Husqvarna headquarters can I use to make sure I am getting product post battery drop production or issue? I already tried to have a saw shop figure it out through their supplier here in the USA - no luck. Thank you for your efforts, I have certainly benefited from it already. Merle
  9. Thanks, was going to order today. Am not an 'early adopter' anyway. It would have been annoying to order and then find out there was an important improvement. Arbtalk and it's members - information at the speed of light!
  10. Lawrence Schultz who has the great good fortune to be an Arborist in Central Park thinks you might be referring to the big FAKE stumps that are over there. He says that things are pruned and removed way before being dead.
  11. Toyota avoided taking responsibility for “sudden acceleration” on some of their cars here in the US - just got slapped with a 1.2 BILLION dollar fine. Plus there are hundreds of personal lawsuit cases lined up waiting for court dates. Head in the sand avoidance till some one gets hurt or dies - thats a good plan.
  12. Can’t wait to go through all the pics and video with a notebook in hand, can already see tons of uses I was not focused on. Thanks for posting David and others.
  13. Xman/David will give you the exact answer but in general, no it’s not a problem to ‘let it run’ from the top of a tree to the ground including with some very heavy weights. I’ve run near vertical speed lines with heavy weights also. One 40 minute video I mentioned above covered lack of heat issues and other things. The Hardcoat covering the rings is uncanny for durability.
  14. David, I’ll say it again - thanks for bringing the rings over from the marine industry. I would have never known about them. Every job I use X Rigging Rings on goes faster, easier, and brings back some of the fun of early days in tree work for me. Please, please, please bring back out that first video of testing the rings to destruction. I only watched it once and hadn’t robbed all the good ideas out of that one yet. No one would guess what these are capable of without seeing it on vid. Not all of our videos need to be 10’s for entertainment. I use the XRR to make more money more quickly and can watch a 40 minute video to learn how to do that better. August please make all the videos with Rings you want, this last one I learned at least one more trick I had never thought of. Can’t wait to see what other ideas your creative mind comes up with.
