  1. I'd still be concerned that the connection point could give out under a bit of twisting, if that is the case. Sometimes this can happen during a climb if you're not watching your gear all the time. I'll wait until the full findings are out but I'd be more than a little worried climbing on a ZZ at the moment. We spent this afternoon in the office checking gear, Numbers, load points and everything in between. We check gear most days but this has just made us a little extra careful. 2. OK, just in case I haven't read every thread and covered every post (thankyou Mr Bullman); Treetools did a test on the ZZ today. It gave out at the swivel at around 15KN I think but the details are on the Treetools blog if anyone is interested. Apaprt from that; MaseW who is my right hand man has retired his as of now.
  3. read three of them during lunch. Going to read the rest tonight. Brilliant.
  4. Of course everyone declares 100% of their income
  5. I got sucked in with this one but apparently it's a photo shop job.
  6. Still nothing from Petzl so pinch of salt until we do hear something. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. So just bling, cleavage and Range Rovers then. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. So for those of us not in the UK, someone want to expand a little? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Nah. It looks too much like the rest of the competition. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Yep it's where I get my meat from. Good guys, excellent meat. Home kills too. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Give me a break, it's early and it's been a short weekend
  12. A dodgy ZigZag? Doesnt instill confidence if you're 20m in the air. Just seen a picture of the supposed failed ZZ. I'm sure if it's a true picture it will make it's way on here sooner rather than later.
  13. Always rounding down or throwing in a bag full of dog bones free. Something I don't like about buying meat on a styrofoam tray and wrapped in cling film, swimming around in blood. Prefer to be able to tell my butcher what cut I want from a hunk of meat hanging out the back. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Still arguing then
  15. Next time you're in the supermarket have a look at the bacon and see how much water is added on the ingredients list. Some bacon has over 20% water in it. I'm not paying for water, I can get that out the tap thanks!
  16. All good, we're all allowed our opinions, rightly or wrongly 👍 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  18. To be fair Alistair, you judged me I seem to remember 😉 never been a subby I think was what you said, not word for word, so it runs both ways. Not all of us who climb for a living get much out of the comps. I have been to two but only to catch up with friends. It might be heresy but the comps themselves don't do much for me. Also, your opening line was; I've opened this thread to see if anyone has any opinions.......... Johns and I have a different opinion to you obviously so are you now saying you only want the opinions that show this in a positive light? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. Manuka, Matai, Kanuka, Purriri. But they don't grow in the UK so no idea. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Good luck in the hunt bro I'm sure something will come through. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. I know where you're coming from quip but I'm in the process of watching a friends marriage on the verge of collapse because he's now thinking of buying his third business venture while not realising the pressure he's putting his wife under. As long as you know when to back off and put in some quality family time it's all good 👍 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Common sense Adam? C'mon, that's stretching it a bit 😀 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. You need to do the outer reef with the deeper water. There are boats running out of Cairns and Port Douglas that do the outer reef and are quite cheap. They run between 3 and 10 days I think. 5 days is a good run. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Little Tree, you have to do the Great Barrier Reef. Fantastic diving if you go out on a boat for a week. The Red Sea is supposed to be good too. Hoping to do a Great White Shark Dive off California sometime.
  25. There's more to life than earning money, especially if you're in a relationship or have kids. I work six days a week plus bank holidays but I keep Sunday's for myself and the wife. Fine, I do some work on the computer or potter around mowing the lawn but I can be in ear shot of the wife. The Dalai Lama when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered; “Man…. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.” Not sure if it's a true quote but it sounds good and I was told something along a similar line by my old man. He said; there's no use grafting your nuts off for your retirement only to drop dead the day before. Balance your work and private life. You might be too old and knackered to enjoy when you're older what you could be enjoying now.
