  1. Heck. Snow is really late eh? Still warm and hot here. Hitting 21C - 22C for the last few days and forecast for the rest of the week. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Tell me more. I haven't heard about that one. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Offsider is using Arrowfrog. We thought the damage was caused by the pantin but might have a closer look on Monday.
  4. Andrew Footwear :: Antelao Chainsaw SPX Anyone tried these? Saw them for the first time at the field days here in NZ. Looked like a nice boot and talked to a guy in search and rescue who has a pair and reckons they're the dog's danglies. And for the record; Can't fault my Meindles. Four years out of the first pair and they still get used as walking boots. On to the second pair but they need new soles as I wear out one side on the heel. Might try the Zermatts next time though.
  5. I'm not even going to go there Ty.
  6. That's what I'm starting to do in a fashion Ty but for different reasons. I have level 4 Certs in Arb, horticulture and conservation and level 2 forestry. I'm also starting to get too old to be doing the bigger stuff when I can subcontract in a younger, more agile guy to break his arse on the job. I have the tickets that say I can do pretty much everything but I know my limits and try and keep it simple. My tickets say I can do crane work but I've done one crane job in 23 years so i leave that for someone else with more experience. Just because my tickets say I can do it doesn't mean I can. 7. Climbed from 1990 when I first started, through until 1998 when I worked in the buckets. From 2000 until 2007 I was mainly in liaison and management so didn't climb at all. Got fat, got out of shape (despite gym twice a day) and lost track of progress. I was made redundant in 2007 so decided to go out on my own rather than sitting moaning about it. Had to learn a lot of skills all over again and also start to learn a whole load of new ones and try and catch up with the progress in the Arb world. Needless to say it was a very fast and very sharp learning curve. I've been climbing since and work for local council through the week but still run my own business on weekends, holidays and whenever I can. Injuries have slowed me down but on council I have a colleague who is keen as mustard and does most of the climbing but is also helping to bring me up to date with a whole heap of new techniques like SRT. Enjoying my work more now than I have done in years. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Had a mate do tai chi. He'd done it for years. Couldn't lay a finger on him no matter how hard you tried. He reckoned it kept him calm and able to deal with the daily idiots too. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Also had my offsider say its starting to milk his rope quite a lot. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Hmmm wondering if releasing it to a few climbers to trial for a month or two in working situations before commercial release (similar to how the RW was done) might have shown up this issue. Still sticking with my SJ for now until this thing has been out and in the workplace for a good while. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Sounds like when you're trying to decide whether to buy a landrover or not.
  12. Back to the sunshine Jon but its cold. Fire on last night but blue skies again. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Yeah that's what I was worried about Jon. 660 would get more use I reckon. And we have a 261 not a 361 I think I said we had. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. It's a saw I made up in my head 😊 turns out its a 395xp. Same issues though, bolts falling out of the exhaust, choke snapping etc. shame because otherwise it's a good saw. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Just about to go out and buy a new 660. Toss up between that and the 880 but I reckon the 880 would stay in the locker most of the time which is a waste of money. Also got a 590xp but too many little things go wrong on it. Also run a Stihl 361 I think it is which is an awesome saw. No help in answering the riginal question though. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. Must be one of the strangest posts on AT so far 😄 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Cover my flight costs and I'm there. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  19. Birch will burn green but like the others; tars up the chimney.
  20. Good luck. I gave mine away in the end. Not enough time to get my head around it. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Early day for you Silky 😄yeah stoked we got some wet stuff but it won't be enough. Forecast is for more good weather from Tuesday on when we really need a good week like this. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Finally! After 7 weeks of no rain or showers I wake up to it persisting it down. Turning to showers tomorrow, not enough to break the drought but it makes a nice change from day after day of high 20 degree temps and dust bowls instead if lawns, parks and reserves. 23. A little bit of firewood to be shifted.
  24. Four decent size Gums to be removed, chipped and blocked. Two climbers, one groundy and an old school chipper.
  25. Still trying to figure out what happened.
