  1. Nice one Rover. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Just read start to finish in five minutes, the whole thread. I have to agree it sounds like a wind up. If not its well dodgy and we should be steering well clear. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Turned up at work this morning to be told that one of the other supervisors recieved a call from plod at around 07.30 Sunday morning. One of the locals had heard a chainsaw start up at around 06.30 and, after a few minutes of cutting, a massive thump. Plod weren't interested. One person took note of the vehicle but not the make, model, reg number or anything identifying like that. He later admitted he wanted the trees gone anyway. So, one down, right across the footpath, a few more to go. Anyone think that if someone started a chainsaw up at that time on a sunday morning in a reserve right outside your house, you'd be out like a shot?
  4. Would we have a different view if it turned out this old boy was after free wood to sell on to his neighbours? We're all assuming on both sides of the fence here. What if the old fella had waltzed into your front garden and nailed a tree just for the wood. It all depends on your perspective. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Dropping a tree across a national speed limit road without proper road control, regardless of it was low volume or not, sounds plain daft. I do feel sorry for you with the lost earnings etc but, even as a subby, surely you should have your own insurance to cover these things regardless? Maybe I missed something or am being over simplistic but if you put yourself in that situation in the first place knowing it's dodgy at best..... I'd leave the whole lot with a lawyer and let them figure out if you have the rights to a claim etc.
  6. Another technical middle class here. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Fair enough. So in theory, if all you need is something just to call people on (which you can actually do on an iPad I think) why don't you just get the cheapest piece of rubbish going and replace it when it breaks down or gets trashed? From what I've seen the tough phones are pretty expensive for what they are. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Just buy a smartphone and invest in a decent tough case such as an Otterbox or Griffin. Had my iPhone a year now and it's been dropped out of my pocket, skittled across the floor and bounced all over the show but the case has done its job. Still works like new. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. I have a Panasonic lumix tough camera. Seems ok so far despite being thrown across the floor a couple of times. Easy to lose the battery when transferring photos to the computer though. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Nice find. Definitely not a waste of time. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Butter caramelises well and gives extra flavour and the veg oil increases the burn point of the butter so you don't get that horrible burnt taste when you have the pan on high, as you should, to cook the steak. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. I remember Dave Francis (worked for Access Hire in North Wales) had all his teeth pulled when he was about 21 and had em replaced with dentures. Reckoned it was the best thing he ever did after several years of bad tooth ache. Didn't pull them himself though. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Stephen Donald still playing for Bath Jon? Hell of a player in the Super 14 over here.
  14. Exactly what I was thinking. it's easy for us, knowing chainsaws, to understand the differences between a good and bad saw and between a legit one and a knock off, and even then there are a couple of guys who have posted on AT who have a couple of the knock offs and reckon they're OK for what they are and the price paid. Even doing some research before hand it's still difficult to tell what's good and what's not. And we have a Husky sewing machine (or the wife does) and it's been nothing but trouble since we got it, despite it being more expensive than a Brother etc with similar features. I brought it because it was Husky so i thought it would be good. Constantly back in the shop being repaired.
  15. Don't see the point, I could have had her undressed in around 30 seconds ( she looks quite tidy). Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. My dentist experiences total two wisdom teeth removed under general anaesthetic and then a filling in a molar due to weakening from removal of previously stated wisdom. Other than that my teeth are good. Don't think I'd pull em out myself. Think I'd have a erm little something to smoke to chill me out, good dose of local and leave my local and very good natured dental expert to extract any nasties. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Bugger, was just about to order several for my sideline business of international espionage agent. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Nice. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. It was supposed to be 21-22C but we reckon it was more like 25C. Doesnt sound much but with no wind and the cloud cover just cleared it was hot and sticky.
  20. Little bit of rain over the long weekend, some fog this morning in the low areas but cleared up nicely to be what can only be described as stinking hot........again. Taken on the drive out to Mangakino this morning.
  21. Good advice. Nothing worse than being a bit more well proportioned like me and ordering a pair of trousers on line only to find that what they consider large is actually more like a medium, especially when you daren't sit down. Or vice versa and ordering a small only to find out that they're round your ankles without a belt. I have two pairs of SiPs, two different types, both the same size but one pair fits much more comfortably than the other. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Crikey, why was that done? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Man fined $45,800 for felling native trees - National - NZ Herald News http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid... Mar 19, 2013 – A man who paid for the illegal felling of native trees so he could have an unobstructed harbour view from his spa pool has been fined $45800. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. A guy in Tauranga just got fine around $45k for having an "arborist" cut down Pohutukawas and other native trees on an adjoining council reserve in order to regain his view so yeah, it seems to happen around the country but more so where we have a view. Someone else has just been up in front of the judge for cutting down her neighbour's Pine trees because they were overhanging the boundary, at least that's what she told me. 25. Regular poisonings, tree mutilations and tree removals all around lake Taupo, generally for views. People sneak on to council reserves or their neighbour's properties and do whatever they wish in order to get the view, reduce shading etc. I've never known anywhere quite like it.
