  1. Got worried when I started reading this, I only use pounds/stone. I'm 91.7kg and feel like a fatty. Would love to be about 13-13.5 stone. Feel like I was 23 again!! Pete Mc not enough burgers, are they working you too hard!!!
  2. Ha ha. I was just about to say 'its a shame you didnt put something in the pic of the stump to gauge the size' then I saw that tiny little spanner in the middle. Great job done. Nice pics
  3. I know but it would probably cost that in postage/delivery and I don't go that often. Not sure what I get charged per pair on mine but it might be slightly cheaper even after postage each way.
  4. That does make sense. Never though the width of the blade edge really made a difference. Cheers
  5. Can anyone explain why the blades in a Jensen 530T are double bevelled. I don't know about other Jensen machines but mine are and I can't really see why. I thought it might be a strength thing at first but then if you just carried on following the first angle, the blade would be just as thick. Then I thought it might be to do with directing the chip the right way once it leaves the point of the blade but I can't believe it makes a huge difference. But if it is vital, then obviously it must carry on that way. But it basically means two grinds per blade and therefore twice the cost. Hopefully someone can say for definite so thanks in advance.
  6. can I see Liam with a cup of tea and a paper? Nice work dean, good spy work there.
  7. Don't forget the poor guys who make corkscrews too. They'll be a little worried too. I like wine. I like a cork too!! Shall I try to drink more. And would it be official permission to tell the wife?
  8. Been stomping on your patch again Dean:001_tongue:
  9. Trying to PM you but I think you are full.
  10. Mmmm... but i do want one of yours. i thought you'd have sold the hobbs long ago. seriously though, why not promote the sale of an RC or two when you can sell a hobbs on ebay in a flash surely. I am more in favour of a hobbs over a GRCS but the RC has put a spanner in the works.
  11. quite simply voted 14 cos i think its the right size. my opinion..
  12. Waiting in anticipation for a release date!! I have been pondering GRCS or Hobbs for a while now but i think yours is possibly my choice. The main double barrel jobby and this device too would make a great combo. Got a few jobs soon that would be fantastic to have these to help out. Are they ready soon???
  13. Don't sell yourself short there. I hope I would still get recommended even if I was away tossing about... I mean pricing jobs and taking important phone calls. Sorry, misread. What you said!!
  14. There are some quite good gps/satnav apps
  15. Hand of Doom - Black Sabbath
  16. Mine are on vertex helmets. They didn't push very hard against my ears very hard and at first thought they were crap. But with a little tweak on the metal with some pliers and they are absolutely fine. I use mine all the time and I'm definitely not going deaf any quicker than I was before using arborcoms. I know sometimes people might get fed up with them being a bit clumsy when putting your lid on at first but you soon get used to it. I think they are so useful, as long as they work correctly. Hopefully mine will be sorted once and be fine thereafter.
  17. Had mine 2 or 3 months now. Think they are great, but... My right speaker isn't working now so I got in touch with supplier and they are sending out a spare set to use whilst I send these back. The same day, the othe set microphone is playing up intermitantly. Mentioned it to supplier so I'm going to swap the dodgy mikes over and send them a pair with two faults to sort but I'll have a set to use in the mean time. I can't complain at the after sales with that. Just hope they are going to be ok in th future. I think with anything new (ish) like this there will be teething problems with the technology but if you contact supplier I'm sure they'll sort it out. They have to. And when they can make it 3 way they will want to sell you another set.
  18. nasty things those fences. hope it gets better over this week off.
  19. Yes, but its quality that counts. Got to do the job properly, correct angle and pressure is essential.
  20. Mines a Morso Owl. It's my second one. Sold first house and left it and bought exactly the same in next house. I love it but they are quite pricey. And as for burning in the morning, if I ram it totally full with logs and turn it right down, there might be a few embers in the morning but it's no easier to get it going again than just lighting it anyway with kindlng. Nice looking fire though.
  21. I was thinking how nice it would have been to catch them at it at who knows what time in the morning. I hate it when my phone goes after hours but to catch this lot would have been nice. Turn up, quietly slide the main gates shut and re padlock it and ....
  22. I didn't mention before. We had a little visit a while ago, maybe 9 months to a year ago. One of the lads was in the unit sharpening saws. Roller doors were down but the side internal door was open, as in unlocked. Anyway, he heard a noise and thought it was me, but when he turned round there was a face peering round from the side of the truck. He shouted and the git legged it followed by another git with my 066 and 460 in hands. Anyway, the door was springing shut so he dropped them and legged it. Jumped in the back of a waiting white van. They got one MS260 from right under his nose. But they weren't chained up because he was in there and sharpening up so you just don't lock em up do you. Well we do now!! And thankfully so cos it obviously slowed them down, if it was the same lot again for their second run. Just spent the day replacing the 2" runners down the roller doors with 4" runners and replacing the not so good padlocks with better ones. No work today, no money and spent a good few hundred quid so hopefully its tough enough now.
  23. Just turned up to the unit this morning to find the roller shutters flapping about. They have busted a padlock off a Very hefty gate at the entrance, then busted a padlock off what is supposed to be a ram raiding preventing barrier (scaffold running through a few welded up tubes etc. And then they must have 'carefully positioned' the rear of a van through the shutter doors. With the alarm going they must have wanted to be quick. All my saws are chained together and locked up which were still in a heap on the floor, one with a smashed handle as they must have tried to bust it off. The only thing I didn't have chained was a combi strimmer with a hedge cutter attachment so they got that. And my mates had a 341 (I think) and a stihl stone cutter nicked. Anything they could grab quickly by the looks of things. My rake has disappeared too!!! Maybe it was used to prop the van door open or something like that. Thankfully, we seem to have been very lucky and maybe the alarm did actually save the day. They probably got about £2K of stuff or nearly. Could have been more like £40K!! had they filled up and hooked the chipper up too. Anyway, thought I'd post this so at least all my local chaps have a heads up because they might not really be after big stuff and just be grabbing as much small stuff that will shift quickly. They might be doing our area as Dean has mentioned a recent attempt. Might have to get a similar texting device.
  24. This pretty much happened with my old little chippit 18. Bearings go because of inbalance in the rotor. turned out one of the fins on the fans was missing. (pathetic soft alloy bolted onto the rotor) And you need to buy two cos they come in pairs to be balanced. About £60 each. Instead of having a new shaft fitted though, I got a load of weld splodged over the worn bit and then re milled back to the diameter of the bearings (at a mates factory) for about £20. And it turned out to be very strong. Overall, well worth the several hundred quid that it cost cos the chipper ran so smooth afterwards. Its amazing how much a little wobble can make a difference. After this, I made sure all the fins were there each time I changed the blades to prevent damage occurring again.
  25. We had the line tied to top lifting eye if the chipper. Worked a treat. Nothing heavy came down so it was fine. Tracked chipper certainly helps though. Like you say, it's not often the situation is possible to have a nice straight run through.
