  1. I think I would have done the back cut just approx 3.5mm higher:sneaky2: But, more importantly, the smoke seems to be blowing dangerously in the direction of the cook. (is he qualified by the way) And that was a missed opportunity for a three way lunge whilst the cook works his thing.
  2. He was in the goonies... wasn't he?
  3. would full PPE be required or could a risque apres fell shot be ok. just wondering cos the weather looks great for tomorrow.
  4. Have you tested moisture content? Is it ready for splitting yet, just in time for winter.
  5. I wonder if there could be an arbtalk discount then.
  6. As soon as I saw and got the stein jacket I thought it was just a rebranded cyclng jacket. And there is one almost identical at my local bike shop for about £120 with a 'name'. But chatting to a chap in a bike shop in ambleside the other day told me to always wash in cool water with cheap washing soda not Ariel or persil etc. Or, wash in cool water with nik-tech or tech-wash (something like that) and then another cool wash in nik-wax. My bike gear was great afterwards. Haven't done my stein jacket yet but I'm sure it will help. Gonna stick my chainsaw pants in too.
  7. Yeh, apart from those times when 4/5 done the customer comes out saying 'ooo... you can leave that pile of wood, we've got a cottage up north with a wood burner' Sorry, priced it accordingly. However, the wood is for sale.
  8. actually, its a tree with a head that looks like mine. wierd.
  9. how about these, first one i got from google Sun Traffic Signals
  10. That has to be one of the best ever. I won't ever be driving one of the cars they had but what a road. I'd love a blast on the push iron too.
  11. I think you might need a big saw for that one.
  12. I thought they were really good at first. Really good close fitting and very tough. Still in good nick after about 1 year. But after a few washes (hand washes in cool/tepid water) they aren't that waterproof. But I got some spray on stuff, 'scotchguard' type stuff and emptied a can of that onto a jacket the other day and it was beading off today in the rain. Other untreated jacket was soaking through the outer layer. Will definitely be trying it again to see how well waterproofed I can get them. Same with my chainsaw pants too. But I haven't tested them yet...
  13. I pass a lovely elm nearly everyday. Must be 80-90 feet and a really good hug. Must remember the camera in the morn. It's the only decent size one I know of in the full public view though.
  14. Usually get done quickly when it rains too!! No way would I charge less. I'll be on my way before it's dark whatever time of year.
  15. And his technique was spot on too.... wierd
  16. Common law states that 'leaves are like cats and are free to go wherever the wind may blow them' or something like that. In effect, I think once they have landed in your garden they are yours and therefore your responsibility to clear up and dispose of. if you chuck em over the fence you would technically be littering. Not the answer you want to hear but i think its pretty much true.
  17. It means you can take your bikes too and have the best of both worlds. Snow gets a bit slushy in the afternoon sun so good to go biking a bit lower down the slopes.
  18. With a simple pulley system off the back of the container you'd manage ok if reversing it in is difficult.
  19. I use a petzl and the cable goes inside the helmet
  20. Shall we start with some rules? How long a run up to start with. And is it after the 6 pints at lunch time or tea time?
  21. How about a new one then. 'How much CAN'T you squeeze'?
  22. I'm 5'10 or 11'' - I must have had one hell of a 2'' pie. Do you wash yours down with beer. I find a few beers and then some wine quite nice. Maybe that's the key- for anyone who requires a little ballast!!
