  1. Good video that. Couldn't sleep so watched it at 3am. Nice and relaxing!!
  2. Camera is a POV-1 from dogcamsports.com. It's with a normal lense and not the wide angle cos that's what comes with them at the moment but they are apparently going back to normal lenses soon.
  3. A fairly large Horse Chestnut that we dismantled a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, as usual, I forgot to get some shots of the start from the ground. And the last clip of video where we dropped the stem didn't save properly but you can get the gist of it. The tree wasn't in the best of condition and the groundies kept telling me the stem was moving and bending quite alot... mmm... nice. Thanks for telling me that:scared1: Anyway, not a particularly exciting video but I'm still practising. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGkp0kj_58w]YouTube - That old chestnut[/ame]
  4. Looking forward to a 3-way upgrade too. That would make them just about spot on!!
  5. They can also hear, and vice versa, muttering things quietly. It could be easy to be caught out one day!!
  6. I think they are absolutely superb. Excellent quality of sound over saws and chippers and make a job so much more stress free and quicker. And whats strange, in a job like this, is actually having a normal conversation with somebody, other than yourself, at work. Only downside is having to listen to the groundie rabbiting on about his bloody bird or mother in law or whatever.
  7. ....... for some more fuel! Wahey! This is ace fun!
  8. That needs a big shot blasting, give 'em a little fright.
  9. I have to say, I might agree. Especially if it was a date version cos they hold (increase) their money well. I'll be dammed if I trade my Sea Dweller for a bike. Looking forward to my new arrival though. A Foes XCT 5 is on its way with all the XTR and Hope trimmings. Cant wait, can't wait Sorry, by the way. That GT was a nice bike!!
  10. Thats an impressive bit of kit you've got there used in an equally impressive way. I'm very glad I didn't get down the GRCS or Hobbs route yet. Very enjoyable and informative video that, thank you. By the way, any chance of seeing the POV footage of the lump bouncing around at 1min 58sec on the second vid. From that video angle I cant believe you didnt flinch just a little bit!!
  11. I once had an outdoor pile of chip. I filled a rolonoff skip and the chip was warm and dry on the inside. I think it was a 40cube bin and it was weighed with 13tons in it. If that's any help.
  12. Been thinking of taking on another man, sorry person, preferably a climber and preferably with experience but to be honest not totally essential. And willing to do the crappy side of the job like rainy weather work like hedges etc. Driving license with ability to pull trailer/chipper (over 750kg or whatever minimum is) will be required. And preferably not living too far away for convenience to us both. Hope that all makes sense. Had a long day at Yorkshire show!! Thanks
  13. I suppose Dean should have first dibs on it but if not I'll be interested please. If not, have you got anything a bit cheaper... an old paint tin or a bucket perhaps.
  14. Thats just it. I would have thought I'd have to allow at least 1 hour maybe even 2 to do it carefully and steady away. So would it be fair to say I would plant 5-6 in 1 day. So we'd be looking at 2 1/2 days but call it 3 to be on the safe side. Or am I being too safe there. Its a good few hundred quid more!!
  15. I've seen one in action too.Was impressed, just havent got round to buying one yet:blushing:
  16. Cheers for those. The 5m oak we planted had a similar anchoring system on it but that was installed after by a landscaper the chap heard about. Worked very well. However, if there is going to be cattle proof fencing, he isnt going to be bothered about aesthetics. Watering, hopefully the guy will pay the extra for some watering systems and then hopefully go out there and actually water them. I certainly wont be giving any guarantee for success whatsoever. He knows I'll do my best to do things carefully though. In terms of cost and time for each tree. I was discussing this with one of the lads at work. If we get a guy we know in with his digger, he will bring it on a trailer on the back of his tractor. So if he starts digging holes, we can load up the trailer and drive up the field nearer to where they'll be planted. So, by the time he's dug a whole, we can start putting the first one in. And then so on. So whats your estimate on a one tree planting time scale.
  17. Support; we'll get a chap in at the same time to put cattle proof fencing round each one so I was hoping to incorporate that. He put some other trees in a while ago (planted a handful of standards himself) and fenced them and tied them up. Watering; not entirely sure. Was thinking of a few pipes down to the roots. Advice is very welcome.
  18. I originally wanted to use a mini digger to plant larger trees but they were too expensive and down graded to smaller , easier trees. We probably would still use a mini digger but I cant quite decide how long it will take per tree in order to price it.
  19. I've been asked to do some planting and wondered if I could get some advice on pricing the labour up. Whenever I've planted trees before they have usually been just standards to replace a tree which has been removed. And I once planted a 5metre oak with the aid of a mini digger which seemed to go ok. The trees I've been asked to plant are to create a screen ASAP on a near 45 degrees field, about 200 metres from the 'easy' access point. I explained that the bigger the tree, the bigger the invoice. So, we've come to a happy medium of planting approx 3 metre trees. Nursery told me they would be handleable by two blokes. Is this true? Secondly, how long do you think it would take to carry up the field, dig and plant just one tree never mind all of them. This is the list: 5 leylandii 3.5m 2 cedar of lebanon 3m 2 lombardy poplar 4m (ish) 2 oaks 3-3.5m Thanks in advance. I know I can give a very ball park figure on time scale for the labour but I do like planting when I get the chance so dont want to be too expensive and frighten the guy off, only for him to spend £1500 on trees that some clown could just stick in a little hole and not care.
  20. Wrapmaster Dispenser- Lakeland, the home of creative kitchenware sorry dean. yours is still a good idea!!
  21. aah! now thats thinking. cunning. could use cling film
  22. surely you could stretch to a bucket:001_cool:
  23. Ben Collins??? F1 test driver. He drove an F1 car for a sub 1 minute lap for top gear. But it might have been schuwy who drove the fxx ferrari. Apparently its 'his baby'
  24. I think no matter what advice you get from CAB or ACAS, (both free of charge by the way) you should be sorting out a good CV. Don't use an old one, make sure its up to date and good. Dont forget to tell them your age (because boss's do want to know without asking), whether you drive and also for how long. Do you need to do a trailer license? And obviously what qualifications and experience you have already and what you would ideally like to achieve. And I am always interested to hear about REAL hobbies, not the average rubbish that we might expect to hear like 'the countryside' or whatever. Its nice to know about the person you might be working with everyday all week. And I know its a recession and all that, but I think things have been picking up slowly and with a decent firm, you never know, you might land on your feet and so might they with you. Best of luck to you. As I'm sure you can tell from the above, I do hate a crap boss.
  25. It would be good to see a demo on Reg's new fangled device too if its going to be available soon. Hint Hint!!
