  1. Apparently James Blunt might be singing at the funeral.... they havent decided on a song yet though.
  2. Don't be pinching mine.... I got there first!!!
  3. Just ordered 4 yesterday from 4x4tyres.co.uk I thought they were gonna be hard to get and expensive. Last price I saw was £122 each but I ordered 4 for £94 each. 2-5 days delivery so hopefully will have them next week.
  4. I'm sure there's alsorts living in that lot!!
  5. A mate of mine who managed gyms told me about the metabolism thing. Basically, kick start it with muesli or porridge in the morning which is slow release energy. Then if you feel peckish mid morning eat a load of raw carrot or celery which actually burns calories to digest. Then have a sensible lunch without the vanilla slice will help. And then a normal meal in the eve but try not to eat after 8. This all keeps your metabolism high as much as poss. Your body should be working efficiently too. Ideally we should eat every few hours in small quantities to keep metabolism high.
  6. Why not just make a sawpod type thing with Velcro.
  7. if it is arborcoms that you are referring to then yes, I was also told they would be available in 3-way 'soon' but it turns out they are not. Its more complicated than they thought and haven't done it yet and not even close apparently. There is another system which uses a base and you can hook up several headsets to it to work in the same way. But a 3-way system (which could be 4-way for not Much more) would be about 2 grand. Obviously the more headsets, the more expensive the system is. ie. up to 4-way, then up to 8-way, etc etc.
  8. I just want one more mate and then I'll be happy!!
  9. You are right, the lads on the ground can communicate most of the time. But there are times when they are well apart like on roadsides with one inside garden and chipper is running etc. Like has been said, not all jobs require them and so we've all got another helmet with normal ear muffs. The prob with the lads on the ground is that you tend to just leave the arborcoms on all the time and the lonely one on his own is left out of the banter!!
  10. Had a load of probs with mine so far and have been sent back numerous times. Something to do with the circuit boards and they are struggling with production to be able to replace them. So a lot of waiting around for them and I really do miss them. But also, I was told they might be able to get them to work 3way but it doesn't sound like they will for quite a while. You can however have a similar but different set up for up to a 4way for about 2 and a bit grand!!! Would be nice but a big sting in the wallet.
  11. I think conservation areas can annoy the public but TPO's are generally accepted if required for the majority of decent trees, or trees in and amongst new developments. It all depends on how you talk to your customers about it. I find most see the bigger picture if it is explained how awful it would be if anybody could come along and fell or destroy any tree they are asked to.
  12. Do you drive a Toyota by any chance. They do have the arrow, certainly on some they do anyway.
  13. Well all I can say is thank you for anyones care in my safety. I have never liked severing the roots first because it would still flick the saw somewhere down the cut and the two ends go crashing down. 15yrs later I preferred to use this method on this tree. It worked totally 100% to plan. I know it's not how is taught but....maybe I shouldn't have posted something that wasn't correct procedure and it certainly wasn't to show people 'how' to clear up the tree. I know that if I or many other experienced and looked up to contractors never ever did anything that wasnt by the book, there wouldn't be many pictures or videos here for us to see. Anyway, my point I was making was that it was a lucky day for this customer.
  14. Fair enough. My bad. But like I said, I did study it for a while and could see that there were no roots that could stand this one back up. No way. But I repeat. My bad. It is not the way things should have been done for most other situations.
  15. Ha ha. True but the fun wasn't my initial plan. I wanted the root plate back as neatly as poss and after having a good look at what roots that were left I felt there was no way it was standing up without me lifting it up. I hear what you are saying about technique and not being the correct way but it seemed safe to me. And I was the only one standing anywhere near it whilst cutting.
  16. I didn't even get a cap for my tenner. Never mind - I didn't expect to win anyway but it's a good tenner spent.
  17. Went to clear this up on Friday after wind felled it on Thursday night. It was quite amazing really. Apart from a few divots in the grass and a few snapped twigs there really was no damage. If it had been just a couple of degrees either way it would have been a lot worse. Or the other direction would have trashed the property behind. If you went to price this up you REALLY would not think it would stunt fell. I haven't seen one this lucky for a while.
  18. 4 tennis balls would be the first quick fix.
  19. It doesn't need to be fixed and welded on. It could just be a plug in one like all the other bits. Same result though. I like it with or without the bars cos I'd just adapt it if it doesn't come like that.
  20. I like that alot. It would be interesting to see how much people would be willing to pay for that. It's alot of work saved. Looking forward to owning one.
  21. My yard is very near to Ed's but it might be easier access and unlocked as there will be someone there all day. But it is about 10-15 mins from Kirkburton. PB Horticulture might be the easiest if they want it. - 01484609549
  22. I've been trying to sort out dates and hoping I can make it. Hopefully be able to sort out soon but might end up a last minute thing if thats ok. looking forward to another meet up cos I've missed the last few or more. Hope thats ok cos I realise numbers will be important. Cheers James
  23. Is a speedline totally out of the question so as to completely clear all the obstacles.
  24. I understand how you feel dean. But try to make it a little more enjoyable seen as though it is a requirement. Do state every step as if they are an idiot. Do state what risks there are within each step. And do state what can be done to avoid or minimize any risks. For example. Trained operatives wearing correct ppe will lift the wood and put onto back of truck. Risks. Operative could incur injury by lifting something too heavy. Truck will be parked as close as possible so as to minimize the work load on operative. Pieces to be lifted will be cut with a chainsaw by an operative wearing correct ppe, into pieces suitable for lifting. Etc etc.
