  1. As suggested before, you can always find a decent boozer and sample a whole load. I like any but I'd be quite happy to help you choose your favourite(s). Or let me know when you get your two bottles and I'd be happy to give you my opinion of the 'spicy marzipan and whispers of cranberries'.
  2. That is good to hear. I will be looking into it again cos my 4x4 tyres were great. I was told they had to be 8 ply or 6 ply, I can't remember. But 4x4 tyres weren't so therefore were not going to be passable. But again, they did the first year. Next year on, the same garage said no. So they obviously overlooked it the first time round. Likewise, VOSA could. Bit stupid really. My 4x4 tyres had a higher load/weight rating per corner than the 'legal' ones. Just didn't pass MOT.
  3. Have you had an MOT with these tyres on. I had some 4x4 tyres on rears and they would get through MOT cause of the side wall ratings etc. and couldn't find any knobbly 4x4 tyres that were rated to be a van tyre for passing MOT.
  4. Is the home owner unwilling to pay for any work done even though it is his problem. Assuming the tree is overhanging his property, he is obviously allowed to cut back to boundary etc. to solve HIS problem. Tight git!! But then again, tree owners are annoying when they don't just get it sorted for the neighbours sake. Tight git!!
  5. I do remember a case where squirrels got in the loft of customers house from an overhanging neighbouring TPO'd tree. Permission was granted to cut back the branches in order to try to stop them getting in. I believe it did work as well. No idea on any relevant law though.
  6. If they are ok to be ripped out and damage to Tarmac is not a problem, can they be given a good shake about to get the bulk off and stick in one big pile. Then get a mulcher in for a day to grind it all up.
  7. Posted these two before on here. Was on an oak. And then this one was just a 'little' funny one!!
  8. I've just received a split tail from forest and arb today. (And a cap, bottle opener and key ring). Cool!! Many thanks to forest and arb and to all involved. I only realised yesterday that my number had come up. Will have to stick a prize in the next raffle. Thanks again.
  9. I've recently just had mine in for warranty work to sort barrel/piston etc. just been giving it a run in and it's now spot on. It does need a retune now to perfect it but its great now. They are a bit slow on pick up from scratch if they are cold. I just keep it warm. I was until recently pretty disappointed with the saw for over a year now. Now, it's absolutely great.
  10. A bit of climbing to start with- T22's and 3 strand. And a few cheap beers. Maybe even some white lightning.
  11. I bought it when halfway through houghall days. We (the guys who stayed onsite) did a few rec climbs at weekends. I did more rec climbs in that time than I have in 15+ yrs since.
  12. Yep that's a good point. I did shorten my bridge as soon as I got it but didn't cut the end off incase I changed my mind. Absolutely yonks later I still haven't chopped it off. Just try it and you prob won't go back.
  13. I did wonder this when I first got a treemotion. I had a willans t22 (I think) before that. How about an alpine butterfly in the middle and see how you like it. Then it can go back to normal if you don't. I never did try it cos I soon got used to it and liked it.
  14. I was thinking about this the other morning. I seem to remember when my dad brewed beer that you can get a heater that was like a 1'' rubber band with a cable attached and it must have had a thermostat incorporated to keep the precious stuff brewing. If that could run off a 12v battery then surely that could be a winner. I'll go and get the brew kit out which I have now inherited but not yet had a go with. After seeing the post above maybe the white wine vinegar would be a bit easier.
  15. I enjoyed that a lot. What did you use for editing. And I liked the folding one too!!
  16. Over about10 or so years I've had nearly every NGK plug fail after a while. Usually the top coming loose and the thread wearing causing bad contact. After a while realised they needed nipping up from new but they do still fail sometimes. Then realised Bosch were already fixed so used them. Never had one fail in about the last 5 years. That decided it for me. Told my dealer not to bother changing plugs for me anymore if he only had NGK ones.
  17. That video is just for fun. It would certainly keep the lads busy (not do any work). The other is demonstrating a fantastic new product specifically designed and ready for some real hard arb graft in the real world. I think it also comes with a flask holder and ashtray.
  18. Its finally here. The product we all need to shift brash and logs from the back garden. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoXOMbOXkmg&feature=related]SUPER?CAT?03?OFF?ROAD - YouTube[/ame]
  19. The chap filming said something about 'you stand over here and 'IF' it comes this way'. With cars passing by ... Er.. Any other thoughts mr brains!!
  20. Just to change the point slightly... Isn't 5days a week, full time for two years supposed to be full time employment, without the same rights of tax relief etc for a self employed person. I think both parties are doing ok here. I can't afford to pay £100 every day for all year. I have paid more on occasions but if I need someone that is better than that then it's my job to do the work myself. I only run a small company so it's not the same as doing railways or utilities. But the OP isn't really self employed.
  21. Do you mean a Yosemite or is this something different.
  22. I used to just use a spliced eye but since getting a spiderjack I didn't want a splice so that I can swap and change easily if I want. I therefore started using a fishermans which I think is best. But for when I'm having a quick climb up to anchor point I use a Yosemite so that I can fling the rope over and if the rope slides I don't lose the rope through the spiderjack and I can quickly clip in. When at final anchor point I stick rope through rope guide and tie a fishermans. I have been thinking about asking here for a while now about the safety of using a Yosemite without a figure 8. I make sure it's well nipped up and I've got enough experience to know not to clip in to the wrong bit. I've also NEVER known a bowline to come undone on its own so thought the Yosemite has even less chance. Or so I thought!!
  23. I do remember now, yes. She was biology/soil science. Pathology was that bald guy. Can't remember his name. Clever chap. New his shrooms!! P.s. yes, I'm stalking you
