  1. Ha ha. Yes I suppose I should've looked a bit closer. Just read ash and didn't really think...
  2. Looks like a big hinge on that lump of ash. Must've been some weight in it! Good looking trailer. I remember last yrs pics and I'm still thinking of building a similar thing for the chipper to pull out.
  3. Good video. Did you manage to zip line the sawdust down too? ;-)
  4. Cheers Dean. I think with a £220 saving I'll get some nice new gadgets or something. :-)
  5. Ha ha. Cash is for counting, not for spending. When your little one becomes a bigger one (your kid, that is) you will try to save the pennies too. And at 24000 pennies I'd rather only spend 2000!! I've got better things to spend money on. Boots are important but Zermats are great and mine will last for ages more as long as I can grip to the floor! :-)
  6. Where did you get them resoled. I took mine into timpsons in Hudds and he reckoned that they can't do it. Be nice to get them redone for winter cos I was just about to buy new ones but the uppers will prob do another 3 yrs!!
  7. Nice mog. Is that you in the first pic, running back for some more brash! Keeping up a good example. :-)
  8. I could do with some info regarding a generator - Wood fired preferred ;-) We have our range and DHW and CH running off wood. But obviously the pump needs elecy. Is it possible to have a kind of quick fit connection added to the system to plug in a generator. I hope I don't sound dim but I have no idea about how they work. I assumed you plug your lecy items into the gen. Not sure how easy it would be with the boiler system.
  9. The new treemotion is now rated for climbing on the 'tool' attachment point isn't it. I was actually thinking about this the other day cos I'm going to need a new one soon but I'd rather be able to buy the cheaper older one. I have no intention of using the tool attach point for my lifeline.
  10. Really. Not waterproof! It says 'breathable hydrophobic leather'. I just assumed any boot would be waterproof so assumed thats what that meant. I think I'll definitely stick with Zermats
  11. Thanks. Just seen the thread and it makes me happy to stick with zermats.
  12. Just been thinking its time for a new pair of Pfanner Zermats. They have been without any doubt whatsoever, the best boot I've had for tree work in general. A bit clompy, especially at first but soon wore in. Great with spikes on and always been totally dry. After about 2-3 years (I cant even remember now) the sole is becoming a bit of a 'slick' rather than the nice grippy sole of the new boot so its time to get some new ones. Or.... after looking around. Does anybody have any feedback on the SIP Pro innovation. SIP Pro Innovation Chainsaw Boots It is a lot cheaper and looks like a good heel for spikes. Would love to know if they are worth a go. If any doubt, I am very happy to stick with Zermats. Cheers
  13. Yes I think you must be an oldie:thumbup: I started in mid nineties with Godson. I think he had already started Badger, then stopped for a while and worked at Able where I met him. After about 1 year he left and soon after did Badger again up until now I think. I may have worked with Paul. Did he used to work mainly at the other fuel yard at Halifax? And he lived on a boat I think. And no idea about Ryburn Timber or Shom.
  14. I see him from time to time in passing. Its been a while since having a chat though. How do you know him? Did you know I worked with him when I first started? Just wondering if we have ever met.
  15. It's a shame I hadn't seen this earlier. My sister lives in Telford and is coming up this weekend. Anyway, at least it's sorted now.
  16. Permitted development is what I would like. I haven't really looked into it, as in shown any plans etc but your looks just the right thing. Maybe a lot better than I actually need. Lovely shed!!
  17. I wish I could build that for a couple of grand! Did you need planning permission for it?
  18. And tastes extra nice with scrambled eggs too.
  19. There were other bits and bobs, av rubbers and things so I don't think it was too bad really.
  20. I have literally just re run in my 14 yr old 026 after having a new piston and a few other bits and bobs to go with it. Cost about £250. It's like a new saw now and would prefer that to a new 261 which 'might' go wrong. The 026 NEVER went wrong in 12.5 yrs and then just started being a bit unreliable. So it got fixed.
  21. Monkey Shoulder did the trick for me this eve. Definitely going to repeat!
  22. I'll just have to get my servicing head on and look after it. After all this, I really don't want a 2wd. Maybe later, a £3-4k tanny or cabstar for all road use but I think I'll have to get the LR now. Cheers:biggrin:
  23. :sneaky2:as little as possible, I recon about 15k max hopefully.
