  1. That looks like a well tied down load!!
  2. And do you haul a 5 ton jack around with you just in case. :aetsch:
  3. I'm hoping it wont be too hot in summer cos its going to be a cooker/range doing all hot water too. Its quite a big kitchen so I hope it wont be too bad. I spoke to Bob a while ago about his stove/back boiler and he said because the water takes a lot of heat out of the stove, the lounge doesnt actually get THAT hot and so can burn a lot of the time. We'll see. I'm hoping to order it all this weekend.
  4. I am going to have a duel system fitted soon with an oil fired combi and a wood burning range. Basically, both get hooked up to a thermal store (about £1-1.5K) and it should be fairly automated. If the wood stays burning, the thermal store won't need any more heated water so the oil will stay off. But if the fire goes out, the thermal store will turn the oil boiler on. Hopefully this works but I'll attach the diagram that I got from Stoves Online, a chap called Mike Gulley seemed to know his stuff. Hope that helps. Also, this diagram shows the thermal store capable of 4 inputs, so, ground source and solar could be added later on too if wanted. Think we'll be alright for wood though to be fair.
  5. I once did a large Ash next door to a taxi rank. I asked them to move all the cars but they were a pain and only moved a few. Anyway, my concentration lapsed and I dropped a big limb. The phone line yanked the bracket off the wall ..... Along with the three bricks/stone that it was attached to and landed, in very slow motion onto the bonnet and side wing of the car beneath. Ouch! Cash flow wasn't too good at the time to take the hit so was the only time I've had to make a claim off insurance. (not that ive had to pay out any other damages). Good job I did though cos the kind taxi gentleman did make a big fuss!! Was my fault though so can't complain.
  6. Surely you'd have been happy with just the firewood Oh, and all that lovely chip:thumbup:
  7. you haven't stopped until you are too old to carry on trying! I bought myself a nice full suspension a year or so ago cos I thought I might be getting there in the next few years - we'll see.
  8. I got stopped by a friendly copper (typically a bit off at first but came round after realizing I was being polite) and basically put me right on this subject. I got in touch with Ifor and got a new plate to de-rate my 2700kg trailer to a 2000kg. So that's sorted and I'm legal. My question is, can I DIY my plate back up to 2700kg for when (or if) I'm pulling something else that is heavier than my chipper. As long as it max's out at no more than 2700kg obviously.
  9. Another video from Danny MacAskill - 'Way back home' I assume this is his latest. I wish I could do a decent wheely nevermind all the stuff he does!! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cj6ho1-G6tw&feature=youtube_gdata_player]YouTube - Danny MacAskill - "Way Back Home"[/ame]
  10. No need for big work boots. Some Lycra and some spd pedals - Job done.
  11. A few more earthquakes, floods and volcanoes isn't really scratching the surface. Disease is the only answer really but natures being trying that for long enough. Humans are getting good at slowing it down. We are our own worst enemy - apart from the minority who can actually see the bigger picture. We (as a worldwide population) won't learn and be told to slow down. Basically.
  12. How much would NOT cheap be out of interest?
  13. Yes, I forgot to say that I think you could do this as a cash payment and not necessarily get a receipt and is still ok to add to the books.
  14. For those that are self employed, I think you can claim tax relief for cleaning vehicles. (used to be able to anyway) For example, approx a fiver every week for keeping your vehicle clean by taking it to a car wash. Correct me if I'm wrong as I keep meaning to check.
  15. Planning permission in what way? Do you mean for if I want to put buildings up or is it classed as a planning permission to use the land. I am hoping to put a wood fired central heating/hot water cooker in so will be going through a lot of wood which will need to be stored and split etc. I will also be able to 'use' alot of the woodchip for my own use in the paddock etc. So hopefully this would be classed as personal and not totally business. I'd be surprised if I have any wood left for sale next year anyway!! Thanks for the help. Think its gonna be a case of having to get on with it and hope I can. Can't see us going through planning before having to complete the purchase of the house.
  16. Thanks for the input. I forgot to mention that this is a house that we are buying soon so I haven't moved in yet. I was hoping to be able to be a little more sure that I will be able to and not get told I can't later on, before we actually buy and sign for the house. It is one of the reasons, quite a major one infact, for wanting the house and it would be a big pain to be then told I can't use the land. A lot of the wood and chip would get used for personal use but obviously a lot would be business.
  17. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on the rules and regs for working from home. If I have land at my house, a paddock and stables for example, what are the first steps to take to find out if I can use it as a yard for logs and chip etc. Are there any grey areas which I need to know about before I inform the council. Would it definitely mean having to pay business rates. I read that this can depend on whether it is for sole use for business or for personal use as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  18. I'll re phrase that then. I dont trust her to keep it going cos ive seen her trying to light the fire in our old house and it isnt 100% reliable. I was hoping for a fool proof system....not that I'm calling her a fool:sneaky2:
  19. That's a great offer. Might be a bit of a trek though but that is the problem. Not many in working order to have a look and play. I am generally getting the kind of info I expected but it's nice to hear it from somebody who isn't trying to sell me one.
  20. About ten years ago my parents did a car boot sale to get rid of all the junk in the loft. My mum pointed to all my junk and said 'what do you want and what can we get rid of?' I looked and saw big trak. 'well you can't have that, but the rest I couldn't care about'. Not that I had even looked at it in ten years but no way did I want rid. Anyway, a few hours later I turned up at the boot sale and found out that the first thing my dad had sold was my big trak.... For £1 !!!!! aaaahhhhggg!!!!!
  21. I fancy the 1100 so I get a bit more out of it. I'm from Huddersfield. How does it do when using just wood. Quantities and length of burn between refills. I want to be able to go to work and not have to rely on the wife. She might panic!!! And if I come home wanting a bath and she's forgotten, how long to get it going and producing hot water and baking some fresh bread. Cheers
  22. So far so good then. Glad I asked. The esse one only kicks out 30,000 btu's which is why I originally looked at the mulberry but apparently they aren't so good. Mulberry and esse do look good though but the wamsler isn't quite as nice looking. But I want quality and efficiency more.
  23. I want to install a multifuel range for cooking, heating and water and have been looking at this make. I originally looked at mulberry's but have recently heard about very poor quality. My aim is to use wood as much as possible and aim for an output of around 60,000 btu's. Can you offer any advice on them or other makes if you have any experience of them. Thanks ....missing my woodburner at the mo, can't wait for my new house and a new start with a new fire and hopefully a new cooker/boiler
