    i suppose if you have contacts in the area and they say its safe, i wouldn't argue as they are on the ground so to speak and see what's happening minute by minute whereas the fco probably hasn't got the latest info. Personally, i'd just go with gut feeling.

    just had a look at their website, and noticed next to the seat covers for land rover defenders 'Not suitable for seats fitted with airbags'. Does anybody know of a defender with airbags in the seat or even any airbags?

    if he was innocent, why did he run? If you've got nothing to hide then there shouldn't be any probs when the police pull you, should there? But do agree it was sad for somebody to lose their life like that rather than in old age at home in bed asleep.

    woodpicker, i'm fairly close to IC trees so i'll get in touch with him and follow him over. Whinmoor's near seacroft, so i'll be coming round the ring road for most of the journey, unless the sat nav on ian's truck says otherwise!

    SWB, you should see the one i asked dean to come and have a look at: a big fagus that hasn't been touched for about fifty years(slight exageration) on a slope with gravestones and a public footpath underneath. Still he's game for taking it on just need to see what the church committee says. Oh and access is a total nightmare with the brash drag from hell.

    Shelanders will only pull 2,000kg but a proper land rover will drag 3,500kg, even an old series 3 can tow the same as a freelander. Better off with either the disco or defender tbh.

    my local dealer doesn't have a flash showroom but they've still had to put their prices up due to the manufacturers. The only thing that hasn't gone up in price are the hayter mowers that they sell (made in britain).
