  1. try orange plant, i think they've just opened a depot in greater manchester somewhere. Barry Brown from the yorkshire depot was telling me about it (anyone who knows barry will know what i mean!)
  2. dean, will try and make it on the 16th but will have to check with the good lady as to whether im allowed out to play:ohmy:
  3. count me in for that one, got a few friends who are army, mostly long range snipers (artillery) but some in pbi.
  4. dean, try drinking tetleys dark mild or any other dark mild as they don't pack the same sort of punch but still have the desired effect without too many of the undesired side effects:cheers: penfold
  5. hi kev, the trenches round the mausoleum are probably french drains. I look after the trees in my local churchyard and we're having pretty much the same problem, one of the congregation is very keen to top an irish yew:scared1: which is next to a french drain round the church and he thinks that the roots will eventually push the wall out but i keep telling him it won't for at least another hundred years so my advice is just stick to your guns and tell the architect that pruning the crown wont prune the roots. jim aka penfold
  6. surely its not a bad thing if this governments throat is slit:goodnight:
  7. i'm going to hold my hand up and say i have a pair of the husky leather boots and i find them comfortable so i guess it just depends on which boots feel the most comfortable. A bit like a harness or a bed, if you're not in one you're in the other.
  8. sorry to hear about the old girl craig, you were saying to me that she was having engine trouble last time i saw you so i take it you got new parts for her and these thieving t***s come along. I had the van broken into at the back end of march and all my power tools went. hope you find a new one , you could try L jackson and co down at misson near donny theyve got some nice tm crane trucks in as have witham specialist vehicles at grantham. jim
  9. adansonia, the instructors and assessors at askham bryan are all top notch especially if you get dave Ford or colin olsen, they'll also give you the tricks of the trade which make life easier and they make the course fun even in the pouring rain so it all sinks in and you remember it all even ten years down the line like me.
  10. wozie, if you live on the wetherby side of leeds the best place to go for a brand new hedgetrimmer is harlands at green hammerton just off the A59 going towards york from the A1. They might even have an old one thats been part-exed.
  11. i've got most of the stephen ambrose books including pegasus bridge which was the first book he wrote about the second world war and a copy was given to all the veterans he interviewed for his subsequent books. However Wild Blue takes some getting into as it chops around between the crews of differnt planes in a squadron in italy. Another good read is Joseph Heller's Catch 22, I think everybody knows a major major or a milo minderbender! I have just finished reading all the bernard cornwell sharpe novels which are better than the tv series.
  12. Aire valley tree services are from horsforth area as they used to be based near leeds/bradford airport.
  13. I've used the biggest and the smallest of the timberwolf tracked chippers and have nothing but praise for them but the machines I've useed have all been hired in from Orange Plant so they have a good back-up service which is very good, for instance I had hired the 12" tracked machine and the nut on the discharge chute had worked itself loose and about 10 minutes after ringing to say the nut had disappeared there was a fitter putting a new one on!! but the I was only about ten minutes from the depot at tockwith.
