  1. get down to B&Q, they're selling gloves and helmets cheap at long last. All they need to do now is say that they won't sell a chainsaw without these items and start selling seatless chainsaw trousers. Allthough thats for another thread i think.
  2. better than your mog,skyhuck?

    Portable winch

sorry about that monkeyd, i keep forgetting that some of the older members of this forum will have memories of the monkey winch as piece of everyday kit, i only remember using one at college a couple of times and that was bad enough.
  4. not to mention you're going to need a bigger winch unless you get skyhucks mog and skidding winch on it

    Portable winch

how about a trewhella monkey winch? although i think dean's winch that he found is a tad more up to date!!
  7. tom, is that the fendt xylon or an earlier version of it?
  8. on the note of spike, her's another of his written during the korean war: The Young Soldiers Why are they lying in some distant land Why did they go, did they understand? Young men they were Young men they stay But why did we send them away, away? i'd like to dedicate this to all the lads and ladies who have fallen since the poem was written.
  9. the lad coming down the handrail and straight under the car was a bit shocking. the fire at the fireworks factory was certainly impressive and the little car towing the twin axle caravan just proves the laws of gravity: what goes up must come down.
  10. like trying to fertilise a field with a fart. as nervous as a very short nun at the start of the penguin shooting season. as welcome as a sausage roll at a bar mitzvah. apologies in advance:scared1: roll her in flour and look for the wet spot. not saying she's fat but her graduation photo was taken from a helicopter.
  11. ed, it sounds like you're talking about the m65 which is a good phone until the little doodad holding the metal frame on goes and then their pure hell to live with. I now have a m110 solid and have no complaints apart from the reception on them isn't quite as good as on the m65.
  12. two for me please lee.
  13. sorry to hear about this pete, i know how you feel. The little b******s should be tied up against dean's container, a hose put on them to soak them a bit and then turn the power on. they might learn not to mess with a tree surgeons gear again.
  14. ictrees, the nearest nfu office for us is at tadcaster, the agent is called tony bowey and the number is 01937 833746. They were great when i got done over in march, got authorisation to get new kit the next day!!
  15. it was humbling to see Henry Allingham, the oldest of the three at 112!!, determined to get out of his wheelchair to lay his wreath but in the end it was too much for him and his escort had to do it for him. I'm a member of the Royal British Legion, although i have never served in the forces that has never been a necessity to join; as long as you have a family link to the armed forces, you can be a member. As a member i got a letter about the latest campaign by the legion which is trying to get the government to do more for the veterans of earlier conflicts as a lot of them are only just surviving above the poverty line;if this campaign is as sucessful as last years about the forces covenant then i can't see gordon brown lasting long.
  16. ictrees, i got done over in march but the little *&(^^% were disturbed before they could get too much, as it was they got away with just over a grands worth of gear but left my climbing kit and lowering kit and winch. You could probably have a mosey over to york farm sales and let them know what kit youve had nicked and they will keep an eye out for it and let the police know. I'll keep my eye out as well as i'm not far from you and i'll pass the word round over here. penfold
  17. there was a young soldier called Edser, when wanted was always in bed sir, one morning at one they fired the gun, and Edser in bed sir was dead sir. Terence 'spike' Milligan
  18. the machine looks a bit like a cold planer for taking off the surface of the road before they resurface it.
  19. rudyard kipling's poem 'if'
  20. i think if you had been in one of these silly japanese twincabs, you wouldn't have walked from that to tell the tale. Just goes to show how strong a landy body really is. If the chassis isn't knackered, you could probably rebuild it.
  21. yeah especially when arbtalk sets up a zipline:stickyman:
  22. i'm in. Another avenue to explore might Perennial (what used to be the horticultural benevolent fund) as i think they have a hardship fund for injured workers and their families, but they do have case workers who will be able to advise the family. they can be contacted on 0845 230 1839 or http://www.perennial.org.uk. penfold
  23. monkeyd, youre probably thinking of the honourable as the title of a peer's offspring. I only know this as i worked on the estate of a baron in essex, where there is a very well known agricultural college, as a junior gardener. Steve, i think skyhuck is right in that it signifies an mp.
  24. try the black and grey ones that nod sells at treeworker, they work great in the wet and keep your hands fairly warm.
