  1. I would hazard at a guess that that wasnt really real. There could be slim chance that I am wrong though.
  2. I was thinking that. Looks good for stealing fuel though:thumbup1:
  3. All my point was they havent grown that much and they woulda been a lot taller without the reduction. Obvious YES,but it is worth it to keep a 40 foot tree rather than have a 60-70 footer that will cause loads of hassle, ie people whinging about light, leaves scared it might fall down etc. IMO its better to reduce and keep maintained a mature tree than to just fell the thing and maybe plant up with a weedy birch. In an urban area though.
  4. At those prices it seems rude not to buy one!
  5. I do have a point but I will have to think about it first.
  6. Looks to me that those trees have been reduced before in the past. In fact I would bet on it.
  7. Pity some others didnt though. We actually used to target prune hawthorns sometimes.
  8. Excellent stuff:thumbup1: Since I nicked my rope the other day and only just found out its worse than I thought I will deffo look into having a go at this:thumbup1:
  9. Enjoy yourself then:thumbup1: An make sure you switch off your phone:laugh1:
  10. I woulda just taken some pics and done it mate. Well as long as it was dangerous, but then again even if its just got a crack in a limb and there are targets then that would be good enough for me.Also worth keeping the damaged section just incase they want a look. Can totally see the point the TO has though since I have had more than the odd call to take a tree out and say it was damaged in last night/yesterdays storm etc:sneaky2:
  11. Never worked on a TW but are you sure that there isnt another drain plug knocking about? Sometimes they run a pipe to a more convenient place. I would look into getting one made up for next time if it doesnt have one. Well thats what Vermeer do anyway.
  12. Those first two pics dont look real!!
  13. Gotta love an easy cheap repair
  14. I suppose if you think about it its probably more important to get a jack lolered in a works vehicle than it is to say get a climbing kit lolered. Not that I would condone such a silly and preposterous waste of time and money though. And I hope you didnt
  15. Just a quick note, firstly good luck in finding a job and sry I cant help out. Secondly SimonBullock do you think it wise to give out all those mobile numbers in an open forum? Unless of course they have given you permission if so I apologise. I know your just trying to help. May have been better to PM them imo.
  16. Cool:thumbup1: Gives me more of a reason to get my LOLER inspecting ticket, since it looks like the way forward. May as well make sure everything with a handle is inspected from the good old dumpy bag for collecting clippings, to our kit bags to the works coffee mug. We all know a good hot steaming cup of tea to the trousers tonsils isnt funny at all:thumbdown: Tis the future!
  17. Could always put another hammock underneath as a safety net incase the first one fails.
  18. I assume thats for H&S reasons and not just because it blocks out light and drops leaves everywhere. I would say that if it is a H&S issue then probably the least would be to remove the affected limbs and only if required do any other works to balance it out. Oh and do get them to monitor it for inonotus hispidus etc if it stays up.

    spooky

    LOL You lucky git!
  20. Aaarr sry mate theres no need for you to throw a tantrum because I left you out of my above post:crying: :congrats: There ya go, I forgot you dont care either.
  21. :congrats: Yes yes youre all right and I'm completly wrong. Does this make you all feel better now? Oooops sry why would you, you all dont care anyway
  22. IIRC you were the fist one to mention a hobo. Actually I meant from people on here not there employer.
  23. Dont listen to those miserable gits, some things are worth fighting for and just giving up aint the British way. If I hadnt spoken up when I was employed I woulda missed out on a few pay rises. Would be a lot of people on the dole if they just moved on when things werent going as they should. Some people dont understand that if you have a passion and take pride in your work then its easy to get upset and annoyed when they tell you its all a waste of time no one cares and a hobo could do it just as well.
  24. Just done a lot of googling cant find any definitive but it seems that there is no minimum speed limit for motorways but if you are causing an obstruction you may get stopped by the police.
  25. I agree. Use some ladders then the rest of your climb is more productive:thumbup1: Looks fake to me btw. Not just the vid (it does look very suss) the device, just a simple square black box that size, nope.
