  1. Ahh right thanks:thumbup1: For some reason I thought it was a different fungi than the first ones. Think I'll keep an eye out for that one.
  2. Some really great pics with superb colours. What camera are you using? What type of fungi is an oudie? I assume its rare or something?
  3. Maybe if people didnt go out of there way to wind me and question every single comment I make or opinion I have I might That could be seen as paranoia but I have looked over all my last posts so I know it aint. I type more or less the way I speak I dont want to spend ages dithering over what I type in case it bothers someone or comes across wrongly and I would hope others see it that way. The I wonder bit means exactly what it says I wonder why my opinion was picked up on and not others? Anyhow mate I an going to take a chill pill or 4 so I'll end my involvement in this thread by just saying I hope the guy gets back on track soon and as LSD says hopefully it will prevent future accidents.
  4. Thats why I put this line underneath it mate. I didnt bring LOLER into this thread and I wasnt the first one to basically say they wouldnt use a VT and that the knot slips etc. Its just that for some reason my opinion got jumped on! I wonder why.
  5. How on earth did you come to that conclusion from my comment you highlighted. Because I think its pointless doesnt mean I said I know better!! An as for the other stuff you said. Anyway from what I've read on here not all LOLER inspectors agree on the same thing. An whats being qualified got to do with having an opinion? I was wondering when you were going to say something tbh:001_smile:
  6. I was going to say that I hit my chainsaw pants years ago with a 242 on full throttle and didnt realise apart from the fact the blocking material stopped the saw, but I dont think I'll bother because someone will say I'm wrong!
  7. Yes I am wondering why I do bother posting at all lately. Thats all I said I wasnt arguing against it! The above accident wouldnt have happened if a he was using A prussik or B he had checked his knot. I just dont think using something that if you dont check often can result in a nasty accident is particular good, thats all. I was also just comparing it to a krab in the fact I wouldnt use one if it came loose while in use.
  8. I'm guessing the max rpm is around 12,500. So measure the distance the chain moves when you turn the drive sprocket 1 complete turn then times that by 12,500.
  9. Well you are checking it just quickly and it sounds like its something you do often. No I'm not a LOLER inspector and I dont need to be to check kit. And I dont have to get someone else to check it its only recommended that you do. Getting someone to look at your kit every 6 months is pointless imo. I'm not getting into this LOLER garbage as I've said enough in the past about how pointless I think it is. If the insurance company wanna riggle out of anything I'm sure they will find a way LOLER inspections or not.
  10. Of course I do, but not constantly! Although it seems you have to constantly check VT's etc. No chance.I dont get someone else to check them I do a LOLER inspection myself every 6 months and the gear gets a quick check inspection prior to use.
  11. You are all right about the climber error rather than the knot, but it is a bit poor when if you dont check it this can happen. I wouldnt expect my krab to need such constant attention.
  12. Happy Birthday:beer: I didnt realise you were only 40.
  13. EVERYTHING!!! Thats what we are made of. Anyway best ask Slartibartfast about it.
  14. Nasty stuff, hope he recovers well.
  15. Have you ever seen Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy? The old old series not the film. Apparently what your feeling is universal paranoia We all think we are destined for something big and better.
  16. You aint wrong there! That was more magical than stunt though!
  17. LO We will never know! Aint that the truth! Waste a lot of peoples time in training them up for not much unfortunately.
  18. How did you guess? Was it the constant complaining and trying to blame others for my mistakes?
  19. Hmm you could be right. Up until 2 years ago I had nearly 50K in the bank with no finance, loans etc, so I musta been doing something right back then. I tried upping our day rate back then when we were busy for a longish period and the amount of work winning dropped, so the rate had to drop, I'm more or less on the same rate I was 5 years ago. When you have a huge amount of new lads getting into the game every year and an already well established travelling community at it it isnt that easy to earn a wedge.
  20. Narr just bad business men ie ME! I do win some jobs where I'm not the cheapest but I would say the vast majority are because I'm the cheapest. Although I do live in a city that has the highest percentage of deprivation in the country! Apparently.
  21. Yeah but so will a high one. I would rather have some work and earn money than no work and earn nothing. Sometimes I think I live in a different world to some people. Its one where cost matters.
  22. Yes yes yes. When no one had chippers or for that matter decent chainsaws the cost of tree work was more expensive. I/we have to compete and efficiency is the only way. I cant charge £300 for a £300 tree if my competitors are charging £200.
  23. Apart from the costs this is what will happen. With the chipper you will become a lot more productive therefore knocking jobs out quicker , therefore probably lowering your rate for tree work, therefore you need more jobs to make the same amount of money, therefore running around like a blue arsed fly! Saying that theres no way I would go back to mashing brash with a saw! I'd be interested if there are fuel costs per hour for the small diesel engines we use in the chippers. I know there is somewhere but cant find where.
  24. Indeed, I reckon one of my hobbo's could pull that shot off. War politics to one side looks like he did a good job there.
