  1. If its a survey then I woulda charged since this has happened quite a few times to us, but at least we get paid for something. Too late IMO to ask for money now though.
  2. All looks fantastic mate:thumbup1: Hows the table coming on?
  3. Have fun:thumbup1: Can you ask them when they will make an 020 with a better shaped arse? I also remember years ago a pic of a Stihl that had a digital display lcd thingy, it was the saw of the future:001_rolleyes: I want one with rpm, fuel gauge, oil gauge and boost gauge (will obviously have a turbo!)
  4. Total RATS!!! Too many of these threads atm, those pics show a very sad sight:mad1: Glad too see you have it sorted and have some fun at the Stihl show thingy
  5. Online calculator Cylinder
  6. The same one Plippy posted or something different?
  7. If you want the equivalent power, weight and reliability of an 020 then best thing is to buy another 020! Everything else is just a compromise
  8. Me too!! What is it?
  9. No offence intended but shouldnt you have thought about that before bidding for the work:confused1:

How many camera's were on that guy???? I wouldnt have had the balls to do it that way, fair do's though he did do a good job
  11. Excellent bit of fly tipping:thumbup1: Was the second and third photo taken in different seasons?
  12. Just out of interest is the a way to tell the difference by looking at the timber? Is the timber hairy too
  13. Could just be a faulty bearing, sprocket etc that gave up a bit early. I always buy stihl bars rather than oregon since I could never be bothered to grease the oregon ones. Usually find the bar is worn to death before the nose starts to splay a bit, although did have a 25" one go on a stihl but it had been pinched fairly badly not long before it split.
  14. I cant see why your disapointed with the final job! Like all other comments looks really good:thumbup1: Shows that you have gotten out there to all the ends and fiddly bits.
  15. I'm sure one can be made for a lot lot less tbh.
  16. IME that is about the only way to really prevent a member of the public from being injured. Cones, signs, barriers and tape CAN ONLY BE SEEN BY PEOPLE WITH A BIT OF COMMON SENSE they are completely invisible to the vast majority of people walking the streets.
  17. You say its a kohler engine? If so speak to these people Hancox Ltd | Petrol and diesel engines. Replacement engines. Puncture proof tyres, Amerityre, Briggs&Stratton, Kohler engines, Yanmar and Honda engine sales They are really helpful and know what there on about. It could be rings which if just doing one cylinder would prob cost less then £50 on parts. Head gasket set is around £20 and its not the worst job in the world to do. Otherwise maybe look for a second hand engine or if you really like the machine buy a new engine if the rest of it is in good nick. Its only worth scrap metal prices otherwise! My guess would be rings, but I would try swapping the ht leads/colis over first, oh and do a compression test. Although if it is high on compression it could just be the oil helping it out but if its really low you know there are some probs there.
  18. Its probably not worth burning (the rotted parts) since there will be nothing to it once its dried, although you could. Or put it in your green wheelie bin if you have one or take it to the local tip and put it in the green waste skip. Wont do any harm or spread the fungi about IMO.
  19. A member called Petemate(Ithink thats how its spelt) does saw mods and from what I've read everyone who has had it done rates him highly:thumbup1: You could bung an exhaust on from a 066/660 magnum and give the carb a little tweak.
  20. Mick your an expert give the guy some advice! using cones and tree cutting sign. - Arbtalk.co.uk | Discussion Forum for Arborists
  21. I think a lot depends on the market. If Stihl can charge more in the UK and get away with it then why not? I remember yonks ago taking to a customer about nothing interesting until he piped up about buying a camera (pro photographer or something!) anyway he was trying to buy some camera in the UK and it cost say £2000. He went direct to Canon to buy through his business and he could buy it for say £1700. He then found somewhere in the middle east selling it for say £1000. He asked Canon why this was etc etc and there answer was nothing to do with tax's vat etc it was just down to the fact that they could sell them for more money in the UK than in India. I would hazard at a guess that most companies do this. I'm sure the strength of the pound does make some difference. Put it this way I've charged less to do a tree job for someone I thought couldnt afford the 'real' price, not a lot mind but it was less. I may have also charged someone more than the 'real' price if I think they would pay it.
  22. Excellent stuff:thumbup1: Always thought about having a go at this but not had to yet! Got a 20ton one in the van:thumbup: Just out of interest did you plan to use it from the start or did you have to use half way through?
  23. LOl sry but that bit made me laugh:lol: Let someone else kick the bucket!
  24. Says use by dec 2009 and doesnt look too good:sad: I'll have to knock it into some logs this week and see how it goes. Trying to remember where I bought it from but cant:blushing:
  25. Lol yeah sounds like me.
