1. How many of these kits are people going to buy though? Just one and keep it out on site or several to keep in truck and back at workshop etc. Personally Ive prob got about 6 'normal' kits knocking about. One in each climbing kit, one in workshop and a couple in the truck. Each climber has a personal kit with celox in it and also some celox in main truck kit. Better to have lots knocking about than one large one imo.
2. They have a 'no stress' feed control system which is the same for most modern machines. They are way way better than the old ones.
3. Looks good:thumbup1: Is it specialist stuff and if so where ya get it just for future reference. Or did you nick the missus old chopping board.
4. Find out what neighbour is feeding the pidgeons and shoot them instead. Failing that I would go for the cat idea.
5. Nope your opinion is just wrong and I'll stand by that.
6. He he there must be smoke pouring from Hama's ear muffs. Anyway I've had a good long hard think about this thread and weighed up all the options, opinions and comments. I've come to the conclusion that my opinion is the best. God knows what it is though:confused1:
7. Daldinia concentrica King Alfreds cakes, Cramp balls I think hoof fungus(Fomes fomentarius) is used to light fires or carry them, ie they also smolder for a long time so Mr cave man used them to keep fires going or carry fire with him. I think..
8. You need to find out what wood it was mate! There are plenty of women out there who would pay good money to have lips like that.
9. Should be interesting, I would like to see how they do it though!
10. No biomass recycling places around there then? Thats were all our rotted no good wood goes.
11. Looks like a nice big splippery limb that one! Its sure gonna do some damage to the building when you lob it off in one.
12. As above but I also keep my thumb partially over the circlip while pushing the other side in so if it does spring out it doesnt fly across the workshop never to be seen again!
13. Razor strop fungus
14. As the great man Ernest moss says. "Safety first, fun last"
15. Doesnt say that on the back of the packet iirc.
16. Common mate you cant ask for opinions then get the hump when they arent the same as yours. Dont take any of it personal, if I did that I woulda left the forum after 5 posts.
17. Someone with an arterial has about what 5 mins before they die? Not difficult to think what to do tbh. As for saline drips an stuff, I dont think so tbh. Basic first aid and a call to 999.
18. I know but if anyone out there does please let us know I agree doesnt mean its right though or worthwhile imo. I didnt make that up (apparently its true!) a LOLER inspector did in another thread I'm just passing the info on We do that weekly with a quick tick box sheet. Same here hence why we also do the weekly tick box check for the machinery(or fill it in on request:blushing:)
19. Speaking from experience you need the ways and means of stopping a major bleed to save most peoples lives from the injuries we are most likely to sustain. A large strong bandage and celox will cover most things.(pun intended ) You could buy alot of those for the price of one of those kits!
20. All our chip is given away as we dont have the space to store it. Not that anyone would buy it around here anyway, its hard enough giving it away for free . I would put up a sign that says "Due to people abusing my good will and dumping there rubbish here the woodchip is no longer free and all thieves will be prosecuted. Anyone wishing to buy the chip can call me on XXXXXXX"
21. Husky orange. They are crap really but thats all the local dealer stocks and they do look the best.
22. Just found this while nosing about may be of interest.
23. I didnt say what I meant very well tbh. I did mean the gaps are huge so the grease is like a cushion. Will be better what your doing though as in tightening it all up to stop the twisting but on old sloppy ones with big gaps a thicker lube might be better.
24. I would have thought that the tolerances on a splitter wouldnt be small enough to cause a big problem with grinding paste type grease. Also the large gaps might suit grease a bit better since it probably cushions any impacts. Therefore grease might be better than a thin coat of PTFE spray. Which reminds me, I better lube up our splitter tbh since I dunno the last time it was done.
25. I just dont agree with it because its another paper work/expense that I really dont think is necessary tbh. Poor employers wont adhere to it anyway and they will only get investigated after an accident which is far too late. Besides how many people do you know of that have had an accident because there climbing/rigging failed due to not being inspected thoroughly? I know of none. Plus allegedly if we fail to get a LOLER inspection and there is an accident even if its nothing to do with said inspection of equipment then our insurance companies will pursue us to the death in claiming back there payout. All out kit is inspected by us every week and on a daily/usage basis you cant get better than that tbh. I'm just waiting until we have to get a ticket every 6/12 months for our power tools/large equipment, that should be a right laugh! Obviously only what I think and I'm sure that most disagree with me but well, LOLER is not going to go away and only get worse ie the title of the thread so its probably best that I just have a moan about it rather than do anything tbh.
