My little knowledge is that you see it loads on ash and I think it turns up when there is already a problem and infects the deadwood. I dont think it moves to live wood. Best wait till a more intelligent person than me adds info though:thumbup1:

I there much chance that any of our PC's could have been infected with a virus or spyware? If so any idea what type and how to get rid? I have done an adaware and avast sweep and havent found anything but thought would ask just in case its something new etc.

I think I would rather have had my car nicked than that happening!!

He he probably. I suppose its easy to understand why 'jobs worths' on site want to see every scrap of paper work. Would be fairly poor to loose your house because someone didnt have the right bit of paper and they injured themselves in a completely different aspect of work not relating to that bit of paper!

From the sounds of how it all works you would be fecked! So really every freelance we get in we should have the proof of there gear being LOLERED, plus every time we use a crane, hired in mewp, grab wagon etc etc we should get a copy of there LOLER ticket.

Maybe I am hearing it wrong but I thought you said that someone off the streets can be up to speed in two weeks. Up to what kind of speed. We obviously havent differing views of what is classed as skilled and what isnt. Myself I think it takes more like 5 years to be up to speed rather than a fortnight. Of course there are different levels of skill and we are always learning, just like everyone else in every other job. You will no doubt find architects bitching about each other (probably more so than us) since they also take a pride in what they do and they are probably only as good as there last job Doctors, well its not very legal to practice medicine without a license I think. Plus they are usually above the law, quite untouchable and they know it. It takes some major major boo boo's to get struck off.

The kit also allows you to do a better job. I doubt you could do a good reduction or thin while hanging on to the trunk with one arm. I knew a lad that liked to climb sometimes without a rope so he looked hard! He could only do easy stuff though and did a piss poor job at that. He did a lot better when he did it properly though. The bit about the insignificance compared to child birth well you could say that about everything not work but all life experiences. I think people stamp their feet when they hear that what they do is S*** and anyone with no effort,training,skill,competence,brain cells etc could do exactly the same with minimum input.

Its to do with smoking in buildings its against the law, and work vehicles.

The mewp v climber would be good as I can see that one causing more problems as time goes on ie the HSE will push it more and more imo. It could also mean the end of the top handle too!

Yeah but could they do that without you guiding them? I reckon I could perform a nice bit of brain surgery if I had a skilled expert talking me through every single step. Surely all you need for that is a steady hand and lots of knowledge, probably just like every other job there is out there. Lumping logs from one end of a garden to the other requires no skill. To safely, in a controlled manor, efficeiently and without damaging anything/anyone section down a big nasty tree over a house, conservatory, sandstone wall etc etc does take skill. I dont see how anyone can think it doesnt as long as they do it in the above manor. To crash it out, destroy the lawn, damage the odd roof tile, smash a few pieces of glass have a few near misses with the groundies,chip a few bits of sandtone and take twice as long doesnt require any skill and yep any muppet can do that that has a head for heights. Its in the manner we do things that shows are differing levels of skill imo. I'm sure I could bodge a fairly poor table and chairs together but that doesnt make me a chippie. I havnet got my head up my arse and dont diss what others do ie grass cutters(I've spoken to a few green keepers and there is a hell of a lot more to it than sitting on lawn mower) and especially groundies, which as we all know is a physically hard and very essential job. Some of us probably dont realise the skills we have and use, and some others think they have more than everyone else and should be bowed down to(work with a couple like that!)

I disagree with all the time serve=skilled stuff. I agree it does take a lot of time and experience to be highly skilled but just because someone has been in the game 10+years doesnt mean that they are good at their job. Experience and skill are not the same thing imo. You need experience to have skill but skill doesnt come with experience. I should know, I've been at it 15 years and I'm still crap.

Unless someone is in training how can they be classed as semi-skilled:confused1:

If your in dirty works overalls then I wouldnt let you get into a brand spankingly clean car!
