1. Doesnt say that on the back of the packet iirc.
2. Common mate you cant ask for opinions then get the hump when they arent the same as yours. Dont take any of it personal, if I did that I woulda left the forum after 5 posts.
3. Someone with an arterial has about what 5 mins before they die? Not difficult to think what to do tbh. As for saline drips an stuff, I dont think so tbh. Basic first aid and a call to 999.
4. I know but if anyone out there does please let us know I agree doesnt mean its right though or worthwhile imo. I didnt make that up (apparently its true!) a LOLER inspector did in another thread I'm just passing the info on We do that weekly with a quick tick box sheet. Same here hence why we also do the weekly tick box check for the machinery(or fill it in on request:blushing:)
5. Speaking from experience you need the ways and means of stopping a major bleed to save most peoples lives from the injuries we are most likely to sustain. A large strong bandage and celox will cover most things.(pun intended ) You could buy alot of those for the price of one of those kits!
6. All our chip is given away as we dont have the space to store it. Not that anyone would buy it around here anyway, its hard enough giving it away for free . I would put up a sign that says "Due to people abusing my good will and dumping there rubbish here the woodchip is no longer free and all thieves will be prosecuted. Anyone wishing to buy the chip can call me on XXXXXXX"
7. Husky orange. They are crap really but thats all the local dealer stocks and they do look the best.
8. Just found this while nosing about may be of interest.
9. I didnt say what I meant very well tbh. I did mean the gaps are huge so the grease is like a cushion. Will be better what your doing though as in tightening it all up to stop the twisting but on old sloppy ones with big gaps a thicker lube might be better.
10. I would have thought that the tolerances on a splitter wouldnt be small enough to cause a big problem with grinding paste type grease. Also the large gaps might suit grease a bit better since it probably cushions any impacts. Therefore grease might be better than a thin coat of PTFE spray. Which reminds me, I better lube up our splitter tbh since I dunno the last time it was done.
11. I just dont agree with it because its another paper work/expense that I really dont think is necessary tbh. Poor employers wont adhere to it anyway and they will only get investigated after an accident which is far too late. Besides how many people do you know of that have had an accident because there climbing/rigging failed due to not being inspected thoroughly? I know of none. Plus allegedly if we fail to get a LOLER inspection and there is an accident even if its nothing to do with said inspection of equipment then our insurance companies will pursue us to the death in claiming back there payout. All out kit is inspected by us every week and on a daily/usage basis you cant get better than that tbh. I'm just waiting until we have to get a ticket every 6/12 months for our power tools/large equipment, that should be a right laugh! Obviously only what I think and I'm sure that most disagree with me but well, LOLER is not going to go away and only get worse ie the title of the thread so its probably best that I just have a moan about it rather than do anything tbh.
12. There is and he says lime does just that. His name is google:001_tongue: Soil improvements to avoid poor drainage in yard
13. Thats why I think its all a bit pointless tbh. Detracts from the checking the gear you use yourself. "Its someone else's problem to check it" We should be competent enough to check the equipment we use every day ie PPE. Its not like an MOT on a car where you need specialist equipment to check everything. Anyone got any ideas at all how much it would cost to LOLER a 2 ton bottle jack? Considering they only cost £10 new I bet it would be more cost effective to just buy a new one every 12 months, and flog the old one.
14. Gotta remember though if we hadnt exploited natural resources we wouldnt all be sitting here now on our pc's on the net. We would be out hunting/gathering and dying. Its only now that with a better understanding of how we are raping nature to its destruction we can start to turn that process around. I dont think for one minute tbh that our ancestors had a better understanding of trees, they used them as and when needed just not on such a large scale as we do now. In fact I remember watching a program where they reckon ancient man was responsible for the destruction of the largest species of trees. They have found ancient stumps in bogs that were a lot larger than todays trees of the same species. BTW I didnt read all the posts because they are too long so if I am babbling on about nothing relating to the topic then please just ignore this post.
15. "Lots of people want a smaller tree and as afar as I know a reduction is the only thing that will produce that. Because they dont want to pay the cost of removing and replanting" Edited it

UTBO's

Used to find alot of dead birds and squirrels when working on the power lines. Especially in nice dense conifers, the more frequent they turned up the closer you were getting to the top of the tree:001_smile:
17. Im sure they had ones of these in college and they all said stand back when they released the tension.... BANG.... They werent doing it right, I sussed it out you could wind it back very easily, just took a bit of effort and time. Might not be the same winch though, think this was a monkey winch but think it is also called a tewhella.
18. Dont worry mate they never bother to get us back within 3 years, more like 5+ if anything. Most of the re cut cony hedges are bleedin 3+ years!
19. Yeah you are probably right there My marketing skills are a bit poor I think.
20. Thats were we differ my friend, my price is usually cheaper because I can cut n chuck it all out quick. Well as long as its within the next 3 years.
21. I hope Monkeyd isnt reading this, its his lifes work your dissing. There isnt much that we do that is good for the tree but a reduction is better than a fell (although in some cases maybe not) and thats my argument for reducing a tree. Lots of people want a smaller tree and as afar as I know a reduction is the only thing that will produce that.
22. I must agree I do go for a thin rather than a reduction tbh I shoulda also added to wind sail, scary tree height reduction and patio light increase pruning.
23. Does a reduction reduce wind sail? Answer=yes Does leaving a tree to grow naturally reduce wind sail? Answer=No. Looks fairly straight forward to me.
24. Pissing against the wind mate, I know the feeling all too well.
25. Its just a lot quicker and easier.
