1. I like the vid, short and sweet:thumbup1: What happened to the black metal fence did you take it out?
2. Ie leave the deadwood if its not a problem, it might fall off and hit you. Deadwood anytime but may as well wait until the summer to do any pruning of live wood.
3. Too true as long as they do what they say in the manner they should and dont blag the customer along the way. Prices dont matter but its how they 'win' customers ie "Yeah that oak is really dangerous and needs to come down now" "This will rot the stump in a month" "That stump cant be removed" etc etc. I would have liked watchdog to get the 'customer' to say the quote is a bit expensive then see what they do to get the job. They are ripping people off not with the prices but how they work. Although I probably woulda done all 3 of those jobs including the garden tidyup for about £200
4. What could take you a day could take someone else 1-2 hours especially if you dont really do trees and they do. Although 2-3 loads of chip (to me would be 12-18 cube) would sound like a BIG tree and I would guess at £1000+ Without the pics no chance of pricing it from here. You price sounds about right for a days work though.
5. Spiking never was my forte and did take me quite awhile to get used to it. Although rubbish ex utility spikes with snubbed gaffs dont help! Whatever you do dont try to hug the pole/tree if you slip, you will regret it! lean back and dig the spikes in.
6. Surely not. An what was wrong with the reduction on the cherry. Everyone knows cherries like a good hacking......dont they.
7. If I was the owner of the white or blue car.
8. Its true I tell ya! Well its got to be true I saw it on the TV:thumbup1:
9. After the prog do you reckon there will be one less crew going to Capel.
10. Now thats thinking outside the box. Apparently pampas grass is planted to show that your a bit of a swinger.
11. Sounds like a good plan:thumbup1: Dont forget to all have your WCL ready too:thumbup:
12. I would say a good bit of stick poking is in order Make sure its a long one though!
13. The ones from Hama and Rich Rule are excellent. Well so are most of the others too like, just dont wanna upset any one.
14. You will if your cheap enough.
15. Nice colours.
16. Yeah I wondered about that too! Looking at least 100K around here for something remotely big enough unfortunately.
17. Fair enough I would call it realistic, but then I would I just cant see the EA giving us special permission thats all. Tbh I dont really know what we would be asking of the EA! Would it be that all tree surgeons dont need a WCL? I think if we are going to question the EA we should know what questions we are going to ask and why we want certain answers. Anyone care to start?
18. Theres a catalogue on their web site that might help sip-protection.com
19. Thats OK alot of other answers I've read make no sense either! Go on then, what do you want me to clear up?
20. Heres one bit its a bit poor. Any info on how they compare to the progress ones?
21. I see it different mate. I charge more for brash and timber removal than I do to carry out the tree work in the sense that it takes longer to remove the arisings than it does to create them. If I only concentrated on the tree work I wouldnt make a penny since I'm not exactly inundated with work. Plus if they do want me to remove any 'waste' then I can with my WCL and charge them as I would hourly for tree work plus the expense of tipping the waste. All the expense of my business is converting waste brash and timber(well it is just waste when its in a big pile in the garden) into a recyclable product then moving it. Narr I'm just going to start shooting them instead.
22. As above. If its that or fell the tree would rather be topped id say.
23. I dunno you would have to ask that to the people I see doing the above.
24. I thought if anyone would recognise sarcasm it would be U!! I have never slagged any other companies off to potential customers or any type of customer in fact, I dont go down that road unlike some unfortunately. Well you could still landfill by using skips(you would prob need a broker license) or taking it back to your yard and storing it until a waste company removed it etc. Also if you have no signs on your truck you could sneak it into the domestic section! No they wont agree since you need a license to take scrap cars to a recycling place. Anyway I think I'm just confusing things tbh so I will leave it to the grown ups to sort out.
25. I know what youe mean though, it can be frightening when you start looking through the expenses:scared1: Well compared to what customers think is a one man band with a truck and chainsaw! Probably the last thing I'll say about WCL(for now!) is that I got one so I can slag of all my competitors who dont have a WCL to potential customers and scare them into using us by blagging that they will be slapped in jail otherwise:thumbup1: Also, I just thought that it would be one less thing to worry about and may help with commercial work. TBH I cant see the EA changing their minds since it really depends on what we do with the arisings that determines whether its waste or not. I cant see them giving special permission to all tree companies in the hope they will recycle and not landfill etc. It would prob cause murder with other trades, scrap just to name one which undoubtedly is a business on a much larger scale than us.
