    The older generation... One of my good friends in Manchester found out after his great Uncles funeral, via the Jewish chronicle, that he was one of the Brigand of Nazi Hunters. A group of Jewish soldiers took it upon them selves to track down and kill Nazis. The film Inglorious Bastards is based on their exploits. The point I am trying to make, he was a hero within the Jewish community yet nobody, or very few, including his family knew anything about it. My mate was immensly proud when the article paid tribute to his great uncle.

    I had a similar experience whilst doing my secondary school education. We were doing poetry bay the war poets in GCSE English. At the end we had to write and essay after interviewing someone who served in the war. When I was a kid, an old couple over the road used to look after me. So I went round to interview my uncle Joe as my mam mentioned he had served. I sat down with him and asked him about his time. He just looked at a wall and slowly started to cry. Sat there for 5 minutes, crying and not saying a word. He then just got up and walked out the room. He was in a Prisoner of War camp in Burma and just the thought of the atrocities he had witnessed at the hands of the Japanese was too much. I felt terrible. Was he making it up Vesp?

    There already is a training program in the UK. Ran by the ITCC. I think Craig Johnson had something to do with it. I looked at it a few years ago but the course was cancelled. I also know a couple of guys were researching SRT work positioning climbing for AFAG? or ACOP or HSE whatever it is called now. Speak to Ben Rose about it.

    I wouldn’t bet my wages on it. Knowing some of the gangs who work that borough. It could just as easily happen the week later.

    Waking up early on a summers morning and looking out the window over breakfast. It can be like a different canvas everyday. Sunrise over Oslofjord, from my kitchen table.

    I still use it. The spine does wear in to a rope. I tend to use it when I do spruce and pine and sappy trees out here. Mainly because it responds best to tachyon due to the wear on the spine. The tachyons gets used as it is an old rope which I don't mind getting crapped up. I have a couple of Rope runners as well which I rend to use on the bigger climbs requiring a longer rope. But whenever I use the BDB again, I realise how good a piece of kit it it.

    Yes, just sit in the harness and take the weight of the Haas and the foot ascender. Saves wrestling with it.

    Where about Stubby? Live or on YouTube? He is pretty much a legend, but not really a stadium fighter these days. A bit like Saenchai... now there is a guy who is unbelievable. Google him if you don’t know. Muhammad Ali of Muay Thai. Both are great ambassadors of the sport due to there international game. There are some awesome younger fighters coming through the stadiums over in BKK. Mind, there always has been. It is all Sunuk.

    Good video Paul. One of the guys I work uses it for SRT ascent with occasional work on the way up. i was looking at it a couple of weeks ago but didn’t quite understand the full functionality of it.

    Whats left of the 60 metre rope I am already climbing on. I tend to KISS. Base tie a 60m rope after having pulled through enough of the working end for the task. I just tie the Hook to the tail end of the line. The rest of the 60 stays in the rope bag. I did make a 20metre lanyard to be stored in a ditty bag. I had great ideas for that as a lanyard or second line when needed. It would have also doubled up for the hook with the cinch to capture progress. I moved house though and can't remember where I put the bag and the cinch has disappeared. Oh, the joy!

    Sounds like a right conspiracy that one. As if a governement would actually do anything to harm there own citizens?

    Just get into the habit of pushing the hitch up when you need to stop. A bit like when you push the tail of your rope above your prussic if it is slipping. OP takes a lot for it to bed in as it is so stiff. It isn't my favourite though but plenty of climbers like it. Once you get used to the characteristics of the VT you may, as I did like to run it a bit loose. It helps the rope tend it self when you are ascending or coming back in from branch walking. Again the little push of the VT hitch will just make sure it sets. Once the cord beds in it will catch if you load it suddenly, where as it is more likely to slip if you load it slowly.
