    I still use it. The spine does wear in to a rope. I tend to use it when I do spruce and pine and sappy trees out here. Mainly because it responds best to tachyon due to the wear on the spine. The tachyons gets used as it is an old rope which I don't mind getting crapped up. I have a couple of Rope runners as well which I rend to use on the bigger climbs requiring a longer rope. But whenever I use the BDB again, I realise how good a piece of kit it it.

    Yes, just sit in the harness and take the weight of the Haas and the foot ascender. Saves wrestling with it.

    Where about Stubby? Live or on YouTube? He is pretty much a legend, but not really a stadium fighter these days. A bit like Saenchai... now there is a guy who is unbelievable. Google him if you don’t know. Muhammad Ali of Muay Thai. Both are great ambassadors of the sport due to there international game. There are some awesome younger fighters coming through the stadiums over in BKK. Mind, there always has been. It is all Sunuk.

    Good video Paul. One of the guys I work uses it for SRT ascent with occasional work on the way up. i was looking at it a couple of weeks ago but didn’t quite understand the full functionality of it.

    Whats left of the 60 metre rope I am already climbing on. I tend to KISS. Base tie a 60m rope after having pulled through enough of the working end for the task. I just tie the Hook to the tail end of the line. The rest of the 60 stays in the rope bag. I did make a 20metre lanyard to be stored in a ditty bag. I had great ideas for that as a lanyard or second line when needed. It would have also doubled up for the hook with the cinch to capture progress. I moved house though and can't remember where I put the bag and the cinch has disappeared. Oh, the joy!

    Just get into the habit of pushing the hitch up when you need to stop. A bit like when you push the tail of your rope above your prussic if it is slipping. OP takes a lot for it to bed in as it is so stiff. It isn't my favourite though but plenty of climbers like it. Once you get used to the characteristics of the VT you may, as I did like to run it a bit loose. It helps the rope tend it self when you are ascending or coming back in from branch walking. Again the little push of the VT hitch will just make sure it sets. Once the cord beds in it will catch if you load it suddenly, where as it is more likely to slip if you load it slowly.

    Matty. That is exactly what the video I posted was referring to. war s good for business and a clever business man backs both sides. Just take a look at proven history regarding the Rothschilds. Whilst all the time the Napolionic forces were also being funded by a different brother of the Rothchilds family. So many times conspiracy theories have been proven correct with facts from History. Now where is my tin foil hat! p.s. how did we get from pruning Oak trees to war crimes?

    That is one of the main things that came up when I was in the US. I was working in Connecticut for 2 months and the locals, who probably had never even been to NY kept bringing the “War against the Brits” up. I really had no idea what they were talking about. I suppose a country with such lack of history clings onto such things.

    25 minutes into this, discusses the points you question Mick. AT&T supposedly putting the coms network into Hitlers bunkers. Standard Oil supplying the fuels for Hitlers war machine. Ford providing the engines for some of the vehicles within Hitlers regime. Whether you believe it or not it is pretty thought provoking.

    Nørrono stuff is great but very expensive. The Hagloffs on I have is great. Top end mountain equipment. It is available in Normal colours. I will have it at the APF Mark as it is only single skin and packs down so small it is very handy.

    I have a Swazi but it is hi viz as you know. also got a Hagloffs waterproof shell. Completely bone dry in monsoon rain but it was about 380 quid. Bergen’s of Norway also make some similar style shells as do Arcteryx. check out www.sportpursuit.co.uk for heavy discounts and flash sales. I got the Hagloffs one for 170 quid.
