  1. There will be some small element of this, but IMO wear to the underside of the chain and the bar are by far the biggest cause of slack.
  2. You should not tighten a chain because of expansion, this as above this will cause damage once it cools. When people talk about chain stretch they are talking about a permanent thing, not the transient state of expansion. The term "stretch" is used because that how it appears, just as we think an apple falls from a tree, when in actual fact the apple remains still and the ground rushes up to meet it. Obviously people are free to use what ever term makes them happy I simply find it irritating.
  3. Metal expands when hot and contracts when cold, do you have much experience with chain saws?
  4. Are you saying I'm wrong? Have you ever cut dirty timber and found that suddenly your chain is real slack? Is it not the abrasion that speeds up the "wear"? If chains stretched how do they still locate in the sprocket?
  5. Its important not to over tighten a hot chain, as it cools it can bend the crankshaft or destroy the nose of the bar. I really hate people saying chains "stretch" they don't, the underside of the chain wears, as does bar, this causes slack.
  6. Blair wanted us to join the Euro, yeah right that would have been smart:001_rolleyes: He is hated by a huge portion of the population I think if anything he will do the remoaners more harm than good. He and Alistair Campbell were a disgrace, their war on the press that did not toe the line, was very much like Trump and Co today, they were much slicker, but very much the same, mind they much less real cause to complain.
  7. How are you defining this? Do you mean the trees no long look the way you like? no longer look natural? Some of, if not all of the oldest trees we have in this country were "topped" at some point in the distant past, if this has prolonged their lives how can it be deemed as "not good for trees"?
  8. Yes, we have already had the Uber case. The thing these case don't take into account is the fact that they being paid more as self-employed. The same muppets that bring these cases will be the first to moan when as an employee they have less in their pockets

  10. Recent court case is making this a bit of a bum twitcher now
  11. I disagree! Any one running any business without insurance is a moron!! IMO and far from professional. You are leaving yourself and your customers open to loosing out on a scale thats difficult to even contemplate.
  12. I have heard this from all 4 of my children over the years, my answer has aways been the same " life ain't fair, the sooner you accept that the happier you will be"
  13. They say your first heart attack is a warning, if you follow your doctors advice you should have many, many years ahead of you. Wishing you all the very best
  14. Yes, reading a thread became like trying to wade through treacle, IMHO.
  15. IMO, elections are generally lost, not won. Clinton was so hated anyone going against her would have stood a good chance. The fact that he did not win by a landslide (or even lost the popular vote) suggests he is by no means popular, just the lesser of two evils. But the hysterical reaction to his every move is just childish and could actually end up boosting his popularity.
  16. Nail on the head
  17. "If your gonna do owt fa nowt, do it fo thi sen or thi mother"
  18. They are proper wrap around, I've only ever had three panels.
  19. If I ever have a problem I generally just change the nipple.
  20. 1400 is only 7500KG GVW, 1600 is same size, but around 11000KG GVW.
  21. I've used the red Stihl stuff in both our 550's with no issues.
  22. Any group against something are going to be far more proactive than the people who think there is not really a problem.
  23. Have you ever actually tried burning conifer??? Its excellent fire wood once dry.
  24. I quoted, but must have been too expensive I did go in pretty high as I'm too busy to do it really.
  25. I'm pretty sure Trump was not on that plane.
