  1. I always find it funny how when its a rollover and the jackpot gets really high, say £150M or more, people start buying more tickets, you see them queuing in the shop so a few million is not worth having??????
  2. Sounds riveting
  3. No matter what they do, they can't take away the good times!!!! The memories are yours to keep!!!!!
  4. What the limit on your credit card??? just trying to workout how long you've got
  5. Look after yourself and keep working is my advice. Try and have some passive income and get your overheads down
  6. No, compound interest is the secret with pensions. The problem is knowing where we will be in 30 years, people were sitting pretty a few years back, then it all turned to dust
  7. Who mentioned cost or time?????????
  8. Yikes!!!!! that could have been so much worse!!! I'm sure its reparable and thank goodness no one was hurt or even killed!!!
  9. You can get good used gear from places like this Tackle Trader Classifieds - Buy and Sell your fishing gear...
  10. When the pension age was first set a 65 for men, the average age of death for men was 65 and 8 months. The idea of quitting work and living for another 20+ years is totally unsustainable.
  11. Nope. Taken from the HSE site:- Working with chainsaws What you need to know Chainsaws are potentially dangerous machines which can cause fatal or major injuries if not used correctly. It is essential that anyone who uses a chainsaw at work should have received adequate training and be competent in using a chainsaw for the type of work that they are required to do.
  12. Thats brilliant!!!!!!!!!
  13. I trust the trees had already hit the deck!!
  14. While this is true, there is no requirement for it to take 6 weeks. One of my local councils often deal with notification within 2 weeks and often sooner. Another always leave it until the 11th hour or simply make no reply other than the initial acknowledgement. On one occasion the TPO was served by recorded delivery on the very last day of the 6 weeks.
  15. You appear to have missed the irony, the earlier posts clearly show that they are not proof of training.
  16. In 20+ years I've never heard of or seen anything called a "consent form". I send in my notice and one of three things happen, they may send me an email or letter saying they don't intend to TPO the trees so I'm free to continue immediately or they TPO the trees or I hear nothing, the six weeks pass and we carry out the work. In this instance I would ask to see a copy of the notice that was submitted and evidence of the date the council received it or ring the council and see if they are happy that the correct procedure has been followed.

    Me Lunch

How on earth do you manage to have "leftover sirloin"??? I would have found it impossible not to scoff the lot the night before!!!
  18. While this is true (I only ever took assements and never had any training at all) the irony is that certificates of competence are not a legal requirement, adequate training however is. Shows just what a load of tosh most HSE nonsense is, imo
  19. As forestry is pretty much totally commercial activity (unlike arb where your often dealing with domestic clients) I would have thought being vat registered would be a distinct advantages.
  20. Its Eucalyptus, it looks very nice, but its very, very tough to split.
  21. A very good friend of mine had very olive skin, black hair and went very brown, he loved the sun and loved to work outside with his shirt off. He had skin cancer removed from his face twice and recovered well. He then developed stomach cancer and died aged 71. He had always been very fit and healthy, never over weight and extremely active.
