  1. Nope. Taken from the HSE site:- Working with chainsaws What you need to know Chainsaws are potentially dangerous machines which can cause fatal or major injuries if not used correctly. It is essential that anyone who uses a chainsaw at work should have received adequate training and be competent in using a chainsaw for the type of work that they are required to do.
  2. Thats brilliant!!!!!!!!!
  3. I trust the trees had already hit the deck!!
  4. While this is true, there is no requirement for it to take 6 weeks. One of my local councils often deal with notification within 2 weeks and often sooner. Another always leave it until the 11th hour or simply make no reply other than the initial acknowledgement. On one occasion the TPO was served by recorded delivery on the very last day of the 6 weeks.
  5. You appear to have missed the irony, the earlier posts clearly show that they are not proof of training.
  6. In 20+ years I've never heard of or seen anything called a "consent form". I send in my notice and one of three things happen, they may send me an email or letter saying they don't intend to TPO the trees so I'm free to continue immediately or they TPO the trees or I hear nothing, the six weeks pass and we carry out the work. In this instance I would ask to see a copy of the notice that was submitted and evidence of the date the council received it or ring the council and see if they are happy that the correct procedure has been followed.

    Me Lunch

How on earth do you manage to have "leftover sirloin"??? I would have found it impossible not to scoff the lot the night before!!!
  8. While this is true (I only ever took assements and never had any training at all) the irony is that certificates of competence are not a legal requirement, adequate training however is. Shows just what a load of tosh most HSE nonsense is, imo
  9. As forestry is pretty much totally commercial activity (unlike arb where your often dealing with domestic clients) I would have thought being vat registered would be a distinct advantages.
  10. Its Eucalyptus, it looks very nice, but its very, very tough to split.
  11. A very good friend of mine had very olive skin, black hair and went very brown, he loved the sun and loved to work outside with his shirt off. He had skin cancer removed from his face twice and recovered well. He then developed stomach cancer and died aged 71. He had always been very fit and healthy, never over weight and extremely active.
  12. Hiding from who or what???? I really don't know what your after Jonny??? As far as I'm aware the only way to post on an internet forum is from behind a computer/phone screen
  13. Just laugh and point out its a free country and to suggest he has any rights over any sort of patch is ridiculous. Presumably you considerable out numbered him and had saws readily to hand, so as has already been said he's most likely all mouth. Some large people are bullies as they find people are intimidated by them, if stood up too or laugh at they often crumble away.
  14. What happened to your spaniel??? I've found GSD's very successful, but they do need to be the real deal, I had one that looked the part, barked, but would not bite, they soon worked this out and stuff went The biters however have always done the trick
  15. Not sure what your point is Jonny or are you just being an arse???
  16. It's very annoying indeed, it gives you no time to rub a little mud over the grazed fence panel or chipped top stone on the wall:blushing:
  17. No they expect you to dig round the stump and check for pipes before grinding, it's really not practical and would be cheaper to hit a pipe from time to time.
  18. I hope you put him straight!!!
