Had two STIHL ones and bent them both. Echo is more solidly built and you can add in an extra shaft. Also has a hedging blade as well. Best pole saw i've found is a silky on a stick. Change the blades ones they get dull and i much prefer them to the powered kind.

Felling trees over 380mm is one of the units that can be done as either independent or integrated assessment. Up to you which one you do both mean the same.

We have had the EcoLog version working on the estate recently. Very capable machine at least down here in the low lands. I've never used one only sat in one its like a Valmet 901 meets a Timberjack 810. I think a lot of the issues were sorted out before CAT put their name on a forwarder. The CAT engines use to be used in the Ponsse machines S10 era. They once all the problems were sorted Ponsse changed to Mercedes Benz engines. Log max heads are fantastic. I'd go for a Ponsse over the TJ/JD and the Ecolog/CAT. I prefer the configuration of body and the controls are better laid out. Although 1270 is prehaps the best bang for your buck around.

Have a look at R Tech welders. To get the 200amps on MIG and more on ARC you will be looking at a 32 amp supply.

Not used one but maybe this? I keep meaning to get one. Go with 10 chains or so for a day blunt them and then grind them back in the evenings ready for the next day. -

I always used the Oregon bench grinder. Still a chore but will set you back around £500 quid rather than the thousands for the Clarke auto grinder. -
Buy them each a saw. If they stay with you for 3 years the saw is theirs to do as they wish. Saws get replaced every 3 years that way and you would be surprised how well they will get looked after that way as well. Lads have an extra incentive to look after them that way.

You will need a electric valve chest on your forwarding trailer compatible with the other cranes mini levers. You will constantly be pluging in and out electrical connections each time you change. I'm not saying it will be impossible to do, but i think the pain factor will rule it out. Buy a roof mount frame or a Jake frame dependant on the type of crane you have on your forwarding trailer. Mount that on the tractor put a valve chest on the roof and have one crane that does it all.

Mf 390 Valmet 6000 series Just make sure you pay a lot of attention to the loader frame and front axle when buying a loader tractor. 6000 hours of loader abuse wrecks front ends.

Can't even take a commercial vehicle into our tip. You have to get a special permit from the council if you have a "commercial" vehicle such as a pickup. I think you can only go 4 times a year.

That is very poor. It's not place together and those rivets have not been spun up enough. Contact them with the pictures showing them what you've got and why its not right. I'd be on to trading standards too.

550 is lovely. Mine in 3 years old now and needed a new carb under warranty at about 8 months. Other than a few brake bands (broken by other users rather than me) its been flawless. I've had and still got 346 and 357 but the 550 is better than both of those. In fact i also have a 560 and you know what i go for the 550 every time as its more usable than the 560.

Still if anything happens you have to go back to the truck to summon help. Phone in an Otter Box is not easy to break. Having been in a situation where someone has been injured and help needed to be summoned i would never be without a phone in my pocket.

I've asked about getting a loader on a pivot steer. They're not too keen due to the reduced stability of the two halves of the machine can move independently. Lots of alpines out there with loaders on.
