  1. Zurich?
  2. Does that mean he will be in another corner to and people wee on him?
  3. Great cutting, great climbing. Fantastic camera work.
  4. Some good stuff going on there:thumbup1:
  5. Is he charging?
  6. I didn't see that stand on the list.
  7. You gotta be low. I've forwarded hand cut sites where i got the tractor pick up hitch stuck on a stump which was hidden under the brash.
  8. I think a member on here has a Lokomo forwarder with a Kelsa processor on it. It was on arbtrader.
  9. Looks good. I'd of not bothered taking the toes off. Solid attempt though. Extra points for lowness.
  10. A lot of hospitals within 30 miles of Watford. Even a couple of good ones. If you've got private health insurance then there are even more.
  11. Not far off the same. I had every other Nav problem but not this one.
  12. Is this so you can wear a pair of caulk boots? I think you will always struggle to justify the removal of saw protection especially when cutting on the ground. I can see how in the tree more flexable boots without the saw protection would be ok.
  13. It's like a 660 on a 3' it cuts well but you have to have a sharp chain. I had one of the early 390 just after they replaced the 385 with it. It wouldn't surprise me if they livened it up down the road which is why i found it sluggish and other say its great. I think they're all heavy and the figures they give you in the book are without bar chain and fuel. The 390 is heavier than it should be but it's ergonomic design means it doesn't feel as heavy as it should.
  14. Split level is fantastic for pulling trees. Just make the step bigger for hold. I normally use a strap release cut (which is a bit like an upside down dogs tooth) for assisted fells with a big winch. The rear step gives a bit of control during the fall.
  15. There was your problem. You should stick to St. Albans like me.
  16. 395 - The most old skool of the current husky line up. Its very good but i don't really like the 2xx series husky chain break handle. It cuts very well and in my opinion better than the 660. Downside was that husky didn't make long bars for them but RobD can sort that out now. 660 - The one i own. has a 3' option off the shelf. It wasn't as easy when i got it to get longer bars for the husky then which is why i went STIHL. It has had to have the cylinder helecoied as it's spat sparkplugs out since day one. Had two brake handles as the exhaust melts it. Solid built and cuts like stink on a 20". 390 - Had one for a while the now discontinued 390xpg. It was just a tarted up 385xpg really. Had one of the early ones so it spat out bolts like they were free. Later ones fixed this. Vibes and ergonomics was the best of the lot was a really nice saw to use 24" bar and it was fantastic 28" was a bit like a 36" on a 660. Cuts but nothing special. Can now get a 30" if you want. I'd have another 390 if it was for forestry duties but for a big logging up saw I'd have the 395. As i said i have the 660 but i wish i'd gone husky
  17. Out of interest why is the big side below the little side? I know there is massive variation on how to do a split level but i've never seen that one. Interested to know what advantage it has over the little side being angled and underneath the big side.
  18. Interesting. My Bosch 110v grinders are holding up Ok. I think they're the same as that. I've broken 2 little Makitas in the same time. Seems like an issue with quality control from both brands.
  19. Had two STIHL ones and bent them both. Echo is more solidly built and you can add in an extra shaft. Also has a hedging blade as well. Best pole saw i've found is a silky on a stick. Change the blades ones they get dull and i much prefer them to the powered kind.
  20. Felling trees over 380mm is one of the units that can be done as either independent or integrated assessment. Up to you which one you do both mean the same.
  21. Yes i do. I got mixed up. 810 is just so good, it deserves to be mentioned at every opportunity.
  22. 7018 Rods or 6010,11,13?
  23. We have had the EcoLog version working on the estate recently. Very capable machine at least down here in the low lands. I've never used one only sat in one its like a Valmet 901 meets a Timberjack 810. I think a lot of the issues were sorted out before CAT put their name on a forwarder. The CAT engines use to be used in the Ponsse machines S10 era. They once all the problems were sorted Ponsse changed to Mercedes Benz engines. Log max heads are fantastic. I'd go for a Ponsse over the TJ/JD and the Ecolog/CAT. I prefer the configuration of body and the controls are better laid out. Although 1270 is prehaps the best bang for your buck around.
  24. I thought the ETW cert was equivant to RFS Cert Arb and ISA L2 arb.
  25. Chris Hughes over in Wales does FMOC. Land Based Training and Assessment in Mid Wales - MWMAC Ltd
