  1. dont know about down your way but there is Landmark at Stamford in Lincs.
  2. foliage on one was quite soft and fern like, but the bidwilii was even sharper than araucana. they only had light reductions to stop them pushing the glass out on the conservatory roof.
  3. back tomorrow to do two more so i'll take the camera. couldnt get a decent shot on the phone.
  4. twas great, it was indoors too, in a large public conservatory in lincoln. The Joseph Banks conservatory. i think he was responsible for introducing one of the species too.
  5. two new species for me today, i had to do reductions on Araucaria heterophylla and Araucaria bidwilii.
  6. Can anyone advise how hornbeam responds to pollarding. We have a lot of roadside Hornbeams in Lincoln which are between 20 and 30 years old. They are begining to encroach on housing, blocking light to the windows, and also some being struck by passing lorries. Pollarding would be a possible solution to these problems, but none of us are sure how they will respond as a species. I know you dont all approve of this technique, but another solution which has been suggested is felling them all, so it has to be worth a try. Kev.
  7. we have the 660, no probs with oiling, but we do struggle to get the chain tight enough...
  8. i was expecting to see this one........
  9. stay away from the impreza estate..... i love mine, the nicest car i've ever driven but more thirsty than my landy, and even worse when i put the trailer behind it.
  10. i had that with my old series 2a with a ford V6, it looked a real rat but went like stink, 125mph..... was great fun beating the boy racers away from the lights...
  11. i reckon it'd be a bit awkward getting chip in ond out of that side door no matter if it was overloaded or not!!!!
  12. Nectria canker??? can show red pin head type fruiting bodies... i would expect coral spot to be paler and not shiny... but i'm no expert.
  13. I'm gettin slightly worried cos i dont even feel like a beer at the mo. No plans to go out, will stay at home with wife, boy and dog for first new year as a dad. Up early tomorrow for some landy maintenance.
  14. Only a certain type of man, i'm led to believe lol
  15. as above, chicken wire stapled on should do the trick.
  16. patriot roofracks do a short one i think, but prob very expensive. how about buying a full length one second hand and cutting it down???
  17. depending on how many branches were over the road, and any parking restrictions, we would possibly use stop / go lollipops for some works, possibly parking the truck and chipper to provide a barrier effect from traffic. Hard to say without seeing the site.
  18. would be a good base for a tipper though, and plenty long enough for a toolbox too.
  19. congrats, enjoy the ride, i am 3 months in and loving every minute...
  20. our company issue kit is crap, sweatshirts and polos..... i wear a helly hansen longsleeve top under my polo and then strip the sweatshirt off and leave it in the truck when i'm climbing.... helly kit is pretty good and it develops its own micro biological system after a couple of weeks, so never needs washing.....
  21. got a pot grown 5 foot norway for 22 quid.... usually a bit dubious about ones that claim to be pot grown, but think this one is cos its about ready for re-potting.

Also consider the bar length... dont know what stage you are at with college, but i have a little voice in my mind that is telling me max 15" bar for cs30/31. i love my ms260. it never seems to lack power and i have run up to 18" on it, but i do keep it well sharpened.
