  1. Mick lives not far from me and i occasionally see him at the bar. I dropped a couple of large pieces of timber at his yard a few weeks ago. He seems to like doing the dragonfly thing as he has done a few now. Must have been a hard choice. I really liked the bird n books piece. The simplicity appealed.
  2. got 660 with 36" no probs ever... not used many huskies but those i did i just didnt like as much as stihl. guess its partly what you get used to as both are top brands. just personal preference really.
  3. we have areas of the town where we keep everything locked in the truck unless one of us has it in our hands, otherwise the householders would be selling our gear!
  4. photos?????
  5. He also bounced of a couple of nearby trees on the way down, hurting his heel in the process!
  6. Pete came down the zip line (big kids eh!) spinning like a tornado, with all the gear on his harness flailing around like a strimmer line (but heavier) I was in the unfortunate position of being on the brake line at the time, and was in the path of all the flailing metal work. most exciting!
  7. It was certainly a dramatic descent.
  8. i have spent many weekends on the campsite at the scar, in all weathers. you should see the looks on japanese tourist faces when you walk past them and their cameras and start climbing up the frozen waterfall! thought it was worth mentioning when you said you were in that area!
  9. tell me about it, i have never moved so fast... seriously thought about dropping the brake line and running for cover, but settled with ducking. i thought there might be too much tree damage otherwise. Hows the foot Pete??? many thanks to the organisers for a good day. Kev (just back from scout camp!)
  10. any other recomendations??
  11. B1398....... its the road from work to home!!!!!
  12. starting to think i should sort my life out, this is one area that i reckon needs looking at. got collared by a rep today while at work. he was from Combined Insurance, has anyone heard of them or used them?? are there any other s you would reccomend??
  13. our tree officer reckons 90% of the HC have it round here!

    Scouts?

Do it! if your area is anything like mine, they will be in desperate need of adults.. Scout training schemes are now based around the DofE. The more adults we get, the more we can offer the kids. Also, there are less people around nowadays who are comfortable in the outdoors. This is reflected in kids today, it is our duty to pass onour love and respect of the outdoors. I would have such a hole on my life without scouting, it is how i met my wife and many very good friends over the years. just dont believe them if they say its just for a couple of hours a week!
  15. has it not had bits cut off???

  17. if you come on a south american airline, you could crash anywhere!!!!!! (bad experiences of Viasa)
  18. no piccies but my spuds have gone mad... still digging first earlies! fed six off one root the other day and we have big appetites! looks like a good year for apples too!
  19. i spent 2 days removing ivy from one tree, 2 loads of chip... looked crap after, leaves were late breaking on much of the tree, where ivy had been removed, but it looks great now... was well sick of that tree though!
  20. had a few days working on a severn trent sewage plant. hanging over very large vats of 5h1t.... had to shower on site cos the smell in the van otherwisw, was unbearable!
  21. hmmm just had a look at this, and dont know if its just me, but its wings look to be on backwards... doesnt look quite right somehow!!
  22. so those of you with some carving experience, do you have a favoured wood???
  23. heads, but shout before the wood is falling, ideally, although when the numpty groundie pulled the bull rope and ripped the large pulley out of my hand yesterday, it was a choice of other words! Also if a particularly large branch is dropped, it usually gets a response from the whole team, of BOOM! when it lands!
  24. got to be £60 plus this winter, what with the extra you have to pay in fuel for chainsaws etc!
  25. is there likely to be a loler tester there who might be interested in checking my gear?? and how much would it cost me if so???
