  1. as the question was what looks best, it has to be black... visibility issues are irrelevant to that question! And surely, the boot soles are as important to a climber, why not make them high viz, or the arse of the trousers!
  2. My wife reckons its because i have a secret desire to run off to the woods and live like grizzly adams!

  12. just had a look at the kit list. some lads from work just did the course there (its also where i did my ND) and all they took was what was on the list. No problems. you will like it, lots of equine girlies in tight johdpurs!!!!! you will likely be assessed by Jim ??? (cant remember surname) who does some climbing workshops at the shows. great bloke.
  13. have been known to use the hook on the Hayauchi to place the line over a branch on the odd occasion.
  14. the zip failed on my Hiflex too, but i still use a lanyard!
  15. I also use that type of glove.... but dont pay anywhere near that much for them... get mine from the local sunday markets cost me £5 for six pairs usually. Green or black ones tend to last a bit longer, but I treat them as disposable. Kev.
  16. In my experience, the level of the staking only alters the level at which the tree is snapped off. If there are so minded people around, the vandalism will occur anyway. I ran a large planting job in the middle of Stoke on Trent, it included a lot of extra heavy standards along the canal towpath. I arrived on site one morning to find around twenty of these snapped off, and one uprooted completely and thrown in the canal. They must have worked really hard on that one because I know how heavy it was and the struggle we had getting it into position with a team of 5 experienced lads. In short, the ingenuity of the vandals knows no bounds. Kev.
  17. this the sort of thing you mean??????????
  18. second that, just looks like the flowers coming out to me, i dont know if ash have seperate male and female trees, but if so, that would explain why a neighbouring tree didnt exhibit the same buds. They have been out round here for a couple of weeks now. Kev.
